Super Halorin Adventures: Up close over the shoulder view

So, I've been trying to get Champions Online to sport an over the shoulder view where the camera and player position lock so it has more a console feel. I think this would be cool to do, even if the advantage of being able to see around your character goes away. I may not keep it like that so I can know when to block big attacks, but...

Anyway!

I've found two very useful commands:

/camoffset
/camdist

Offset will place the camera either to the left or right of your character. This is key for the view I'm trying to pull off. Camdist allows you to zoom in closer than you would otherwise.

PROBLEM:

The vertical position of the camera puts the camera at like, waist height. This isn't exactly helping with the over the shoulder look I'm after, so here's where I'm looking to you, sage community, for help.

Has anyone been able to pull off a third-person over the shoulder look? What am I missing? :(

You are missing the parameter for /camelevation unfortunately that is not the name of it. Could also be /camydist, etc.

I also don't think the devs intended for people to mess with the camera except for zooming.

Yeah, from the description of some other camera descriptions, it would appear that there are some camera commands that aren't listen in cmdlist. Maybe they were around during beta, or are only available in some sort of debug mode.

But in general I'd like to raise the camera. I think it looks weird seeing your character in the center of the screen when you're flying around. It's hard to see past yourself.

Setting camdist to 0 is first person mode, though. That's cool.

    Figured it out!

    Set these directions:

Snagged the above from this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1Oe3KezBUU&fmt=22

    Then:

    /camoffset 2.5
    /camdist 13

This isn't exactly over the shoulder, but it accomplishes what I want, and I can see the animations of my character kicking **** still. :)

Here's a pic of what it looks like:

    /bind (whatever) "camoffset 2.5$$camdist 13"

I have to do it each time I zone somewhere, which isn't a big deal with the bind.

heyyyy i was gonna respond to this thread with that link that happens to be my screenshot and tutorial! How funny :D

The only downside is the zone part. It's not a -huge- deal but most people dont know that /bind exists and/or dont have a keypad/keyboard that you can change what the keys do.

But really playing like this with the fps/action setup in my tutorial is AWESOME!!! I'm going to make another video showing people this too. It makes you feel more "in" the battle than regular 3rd person, with a clear view on what youre aiming at with real-time targeting.

Oooo Winner! I play all my ranged characters with FPS controls and targeting and this will make it even better!

EDIT: Also my powers are all on my mouse now which is even better. Since I discovered you can have left/right mouse click and left/right mouse drag do different things.

Now I have my maintained powers on Drag and my single-shot powers on a Click. Means I can fit 7 powers onto my mouse in total. Only use the number keys for very rare utility powers.
