question about resistance enhancements

hello all.

i'm sitting at 300 arms (alien metabolism) crafting right now, and i'm a little confused about how the +resistance items work.

in my crafting school, the +resistance enhancements i have are "neutronium", which gives +50% crushing damage resistance, and "energy shield", which gives +50% energy damage resistance.

i understand how normal resistance calculations work in this game. block, for example, gives +200% damage resistance, which is calculated thusly: damage taken= damage/(1+2.00). so i 100 point attack would do 33 damage while blocking.

however, these +resistance enhancements seem really good. if i craft 4 of the +50% crushing damage enhancers, i get perma-block? and i can block on top of that? and i get invulnerability on top of that? if so, i think i know how my tanking gear set-up is going to work: 4 of the +crushing, 4 of the +energy, and a bunch of constitution.

so before i craft a bunch of these and then run in to dr. destroyer's lab and get trounced, can anyone confirm or deny that my understanding of how resistance works also applies to gear and enhanced gear? thanks!

    You're right on how the math works. However, aren't the resists major enhancements? That means they can only go on primary items, so you could have 3 at best.

    Also, I think (not sure) that +energy resist is not the same as "non-physical resist" like you get from the energy defense stat, because I've also found items with +paranormal resist and +elemental resist. Crushing resist is definitely not the same as physical resist, because there is also piercing and slashing damage.

    i totally forgot about them being primary enhancements, that's probably how the devs worked around it being such a nice bonus.

    i'm guessing that since arms got crushing and energy resists, that the other schools get the other forms of resistance, such that with access to every school, one could create a piece of gear for every encounter.

    finally, i think my initial plan still works, i'll just have to use more builds. i could have a crushing resistance build for lair bosses that do crushing damage, an energy resistance build for energy bosses, etc.

    Yes? There's a perk associated with every damage type as far as I know. Just last night, I hit the million ego dmg mark received heh.
