Perhaps i'm missing something, but there seems to be no way to get decent gear at 40 if you're not a crafter.
All of my gear at present is level 38/39 barring one good blue level 40 piece. I can't find any more level 40/41 quests for rewards that way and PvP gear is worthless right now. UNITY gear costs 1000 Merits for one piece and considering doing dailies netted me a whopping 10ish, i say ish because my character screen still says zero, that is going to take a LONG time to get one piece never mind a set, Nemesis gear isn't very good and the fact that i only have 85 nemesis tokens gained from doing every Nemesis quest that apeared on my route to 40 (which were hardly any).
So any suggestions? Or is this it, i'm either stuck with the 38/39 stuff i have and wait for them to fix PvP gear, grind dailies for 100 days per piece or craft??
Someone please tell me i'm missing something because at present i see no clear path. I have one 40 quest for 5 man Andrith ruins which i assume there's a chance of getting a decent drop for some boss but other than that i'm stumped.
Which i assume would mean doing them in 5 man groups. At present that seems to be the only way other than crafting and even then its only a chance of getting a piece. There doesn't even seem to be any way to get normal gear, i'm not even talking about uber dungeon drops... just updated. the only 40 Lair i know of is Andrith Ruins, perhaps theres more that i just didnt get sent to via quests. Either way 5 mans aren't possible for me unless i get lucky enough to be asked for a PUG.
I had planned on grinding Acclaim for PvP gear, but its currently broken and even the stuff i have on is better.
Have you checked the Auction house it may have something, currently im only lvl 35 but i would side kick with you in you lvl 40 dugeon if you need some help
Rozik and I duoed Andrtith Ruins yesterday. Items do drop in there throughout the lair as you progress. The final boss dropped a UNITY icon when picked up gives you 20 UNITY points. As you said though, I still have 0 unity points in my records so its tough to tell if they are being counted a la Snake Gultch Bucks. Apparently they were just "not showing up" but when the fix occured I was still at 0 and had to start over I really hope that is not the case with UNITY points.
Also of note there are crafting nodes in there that require over 400 skill to pop, I have 400 mysticism and to loot the node required 420 mysticism. The items that dropped were all level 40 items or above, I think we saw a lvl 42 item actually. Not sure if this is intended or not as many of the mobs in there are above level 40.
Overall Andrith Ruins was a lot of fun, duoing it is not for the faint of heart - we died many times granted it was our first time through and neither of us use mini mines.
But to answer your question I would think that lvl 40 loot of various rarities will come from these end game lairs and also from killing lvl 40 guys in the world. I had a 400 crafting required recipe drop and numerous action figures so all in all compared to many launches there is some alright itemization already in place for lvl 40 and I'm sure that it will become even better when the larger majority of the subscriber base starts approaching lvl cap.
Level 40 gear drops off level 40 and 41 mobs. It also drops in the UNITY dungeons.
Crafting makes some really nice gear as well - my entire set now is fracted blues that bumped me up to like 200 dex, 100 ego, 100 recovery, and 200 endurance. I also made a full con set that gives me like 8000 HP in protective stance.
Hmm i'll have to try Andrth then once the rest get up in levels.
I noticed the drops in the unity missions, it's just a shame they are few and far between as they seem to have decent things dropping, well as far as recipes and action figures etc go.
Gen you are more then welcome to rip with us on the next run through. It is a lot of fun. Don't expect to come out of there with any stars though, especially if just the 3 of us go
I'm glad that they are not throwing the good loot hand over fist at us, it makes it that much more of a reward. We are sort of the guinei pigs I think as we are going to be the ones on the front line of the curve seeing the pace of acquiring the gear.
I can't wait for the respec to get rid of some of the skills that are no good for me anymore!!
Gimme a holler then, will be wierd PvEing with people i like to PvP with... on my side
I didn't expect great loot, all i was really annoyed at was how there was no ok loot for 40. I'm used to working off lots of XP/Points for PvP gear in various games so the bugged stuff in this game kinda got to me
There's a bug that's causing stores to display item stats incorrectly--they display as if they were all level 1 items, or something. Once you buy the items, their stats should display correctly in your inventory.
I believe that the fix is in, so it should make it into the next patch or two.
There are also PvP costume unlocks and PvP action figures. Those are purely for bragging rights. The first person to PM me while wearing a full suit of glittering "de la muerte" Luchador pieces with a gold belt and the Epic Lucha action figure following them gets a piece of cake*!
The PVP Upgrades are fine, the store is bugged, the programmer who deals with that stuff has already written a fix for it, it just has to make it through the patching process before it gets to you.

Erm am i missing something? You can see the numbers as they appear once bought and in my inventory, they really are hardly any different than they appear in the store.

What the other guy said.
I craft level 38 blues that are better than the PvP stores sells at 40.

I'm not level 40, but I am tank/dps specced... currently over 7k life in balanced. Would love to come along.
Ive already tested it, buying the gear nets 1-4 increase on some stats and zero on others, they're more bugged that he thinks.
Test is in this post : http://forums.champions-online.com/showpost.php?p=978926&postcount=26
