Changing sub-discipline - does this also reduce skill to 0?

If I want to stay in my main discipline, but change the sub-discipline (for flavor) - do I lose all my skill points, in the same way as if I had changed school?

    I have tested it only once i switched mystic subs to enchanted gear from Arcana and it reset my skill lvl in mystic

    Lose all your points, but you can still use any blueprints once your skill is high enough again.

    Is it worthwhile then to have two characters with different mystic subdisciplines? If so, any opinions on which would be the best combo?

    The subdisciplines are all for flavor.

    Hell, how do i know if i even have a sub discipline?

    I recall seeing something about sub disciplines around level 10, but cant find any information, or see any changes in my crafting abilities.

    In open beta, I lost all my skill points by changing to the sub-discipline that I already had. It let me change to my current sub-discipline and happily removed all my points. Switching between them is also supposed to drop you to zero.

    yes having done that towards the end of beta, I'll say yes. You don't lose any blueprints but your skill falls through the floor.
