any destructive action should have a confirmation

Prime example: Retcon.

You don't ask the player to confirm his action when retconning something. This is not such a huge deal with things that have no cost, but it still should ask IMO. But when they click the "undo" button when a power is selected that does have a cost, their money is gone instantly with no chance to correct their mistake, if it was one.

When a confirm dialog comes up, you could have Y and N bound to yes and no or Enter and ESC for the same, so they can quickly use the keyboard.

For a 360 controller, I would advise you to have No be the default option that is highlighted so the player who spams A will not ignorantly delete something. They would have to press up or down on the stick to highlight "Yes, delete [item name]" and then press A.

I support this idea for paid retcons. I accidentally undid a power I didn't want to today to due a bit of lag. It sucked, but was kind of funny.

You're absolutely correct. If this were a console game that were being submitted to any of the big producers, this issue would be considered a "must fix" issue in order to pass that submission. PC standards have always been much more relaxed, but this is something they really should lock down... until then, I'll only test it right after a get something new.

as someone that works with developing software apps every day, it's always a fine line as to how many warnings is too many.

In principle it sounds fine, but if I want to retcon 6 powers\talents, I would be ****ed if I had to confirm each one.

also, the suggestion as indicated by the title of this thread would be impossible, unless of course you wanted a confirmation every time you fought a mob.

Add the confirmation warnings and an associated 'disable warning prompts' option in the options menu. Done and done.

don't take it too literal. also, this forum is for Controls and Interface. I was clearly talking about the latter. Combat mechanics doesn't even come into the equation.

also, you would not be f'd if you had to confirm 6 of these. it's as easy as hovering your other non-mouse hand over the Enter key and pressing it after each time you press Undo. in the case of the 360 controller and how i described it, you just press down and then A. it takes less than a second in each case. can you spare a second each time you want to undo something? you're not in combat, and this safety saves many a headache.

A "redo" button that would give your money back as well would be more useful in my opinion. If you make a mistake you can buy it back unless you bought something else. That way you don't get a confirmation window each time either.
