Alright you can use one item that gives u 5/5 rating and gain 10 lvls in ur crafting lvl. But say u use 20 items you only gain 10 for all the items. Honestly you need to gain more when useing multiple items. Also gaing ten lvls for one item is overpowered you can easly get ten items for myth if thats what you use and lvl so quick. Honestly it makes more perfect sence to use up to 5 items and gain like 7 for each and not ten. Also maybe add a bonus for each item you use so if that was the case make one item gainonly 5 but say u use 5 items u gain additionl amount.

Why don't you just stop adding items once you've increased it to 5? Makes sense to me.

Also, the 10 levels is only for your first 100 levels of crafting. At T3 crafting, you only gain 3 levels for a full 5 star rating on research. I'm only going to assume it decreases even more in T4, but I'm not 31 yet so I can't train up. The 10 levels is necessary to keep up with your leveling rate.

Also, as you increase in level, the rarity of an items starts making a larger impact on the star rating. Typical yellow things will often only give you one or two stars in T3 crafting.

    It gets progressively harder...

This. OP, you clearly need to invest some more time into learning about the crafting system before you really understand it. If you're getting 5 stars for each item, then research each of them separately and you will get the 10 levels for each item.

Leveling up your crafting slows down enormously in higher levels. I'm working on T4 and I'm pretty sure that anything under 4 stars gives only 1 level, while 4 or 5 stars gives 2 levels. As the quoted poster said, how quickly you level your crafting is tied to how quickly your character will be gaining experience levels so that you are (roughly) able to hit the next tier when you are at about the right level to train it (though if you put a decent amount of effort I've found that you will get to 300 skill at around 28, not 31).
