Faster assisting

Is there a faster way to assist another player than the current system? Right now I literlaly have to hit my friendly abilities 2 or 3 times for the auto assist to switch targets then cast the ability. Then I have to hit the attack agian 2 or 3 times to auto switch back and start shooting again to build energy.

Perhaps something like CoH where the character automatically used an ability that would assist a target.

For example: I select a henchman, hit the heal button, and the player the henchman is targeting will receive heal. No switching of targets needed.

Not sure if this is involved, but there is a setting in the control options "Must have Target" or something similar. What this does is determine if firing an ability while you have no target is a 1 button, or 2 button process. If "Must have target" is on, hitting the button once targets the enemy, then a second time fires the ability. With this setting turned off, targeting and firing is a one-button-press affair. I'm curious if turning this off would speed the process for you.

With the way this game is designed they way assist should work is you target a friendly and whatever there targetting becomes your target as well, and stays that way as long as you have them targted.

Now here is the reason for this, the first reason is for PVP purpose, it would allow players (mainly your more offensive characters, Ice, Elec, Fire powersets) to work together on the same target. So another words if there is some one in PVP that is hard to take down a bunch of players can target once friendly and that friendly can target said enemie player, thus allowing for concentrated fire on one target.

The second reason for doing so would be for those of use that are using the Xbox Controller (yes I know the game doesn't offically support the Xbox controlller). Everytime I go in to combat I have to cycle through my targets to find the one I'm looking for (O and Cryptic you and I have very different diffentions of what near means hehe). Now If I'm in a group and need to assist a player instead of cycle through tons of enemies I could cycle through friendlys till I get the right person and then assist them.

Combat in this game is way to quick and requires a lot of button pushing to be constantly targeting a friendly then hitting assist, by time you do all that well chances are the fight is almost over if not all ready. If your going after high level boss it just much simpler to cycle or click the target then it is to assist with the way the game is set up.

In the end it would just be much simpler if we could target a friendly and then once that is done have the ability to attack whatever it is there attacking. That is just my opinion anyway.

I believe what is needed is something most MMOs offer, and which is incredibly useful: implied targeting.
having to manually assist someone in this kind of fast-paced combat is a pain, frankly. its much better if we could just go and have our target´s target. meaning in a group, we could just select the tank and assist him. we damage what he is damaging, and we heal him when he needs it.

I vote for this system, not because CO is like any other MMO, which it is not, but because this mechanic is a standard for a reason: it works and is incredibly useful
