Deconstructing into other crafting components?

I'm not sure if this a bug, and I'm rather short on the exact details .

I deconstructed spare equipment in Ren Center - at a science table in the area with Dr Silverback... I wasn't paying much attention to the messages or what I was deconstructing etc, but everything seemed to go ok - he got a few skill points, I think some items had 0 stars, others 5.

Shortly afterwards I discovered that my inventory had a lot of Mystic/Arms crafting components that obviously shouldn't have been there, as he's a science crafter and he'd recently cleaned out his inventory - I'm assuming they came from the deconstruction...

This was a couple of days ago - but is it a bug or something intended? (I don't really understand the various trainers in MC etc - is that a special table or something?)

I have seen one quest reward so far that did not have a profession labeled on it and it seemed to me that it was random what I got from breaking it down. I got some of my science items and some arms components. I'm not sure if it was mislabeled, a hybrid item (is that even possible?) or if unclassified items give truly random components.

I've only seen the one case of this personall though so I don't really have enough info of my own to properly give you an answer.
