Higher level items with costume unlocks.

I notice at the end of the inventions store list there are some items that costume unlocks. I'm curious if each of the different specializations have different costume unlocks. So once I unlock them under inventions should I switch to another science specialization to unlock the other costume pieces?

Note: Before someone responds, I'm not talking about power replacers with costume unlocks, I'm talking actual items listed under inventions.
