Firstly let me say I'm really happy with the changes made to crafting since the early beta, I was one of those that complained about how poor it was and although it still has its fair share of flaws, good job on the improvements so far.
By far my biggest issue with crafting is the items to research with. I'm currently 344/400 Arms (AM) and am struggling to get any decent amount of research items without questing. I've never played an mmo that gives you easy craft exp while you level meaning that by 40 80% of people are gonna have max crafting of something or another. My question, once you're 40 and you have no quests where are you supposed to get research items from? Farming the nodes is pointless, 1-2 items per chest is a waste of time when you can get 100's of items from 1 deconstruct. Farming mobs I get maybe 2 drops in 20 minutes if I'm lucky and the chance of them both being arms is slim. I try to do Open MIssions but 90% of the items I'm getting are not arms. I'm always trying to get as much cash as possible in an mmo, crafting is usually one of the best ways to do it but the lack of materials and current state of the market is making it hard. Buying arms items off the auction house isnt an option right now, the mats are stupidly priced, the items themselves are even worse, 50g for an item costing 5s to make? Farming mobs for items is also pretty pointless, anything you can farm in the traditional sense drops next to nothing. Any ideas?
On a side note, wth is the money called for each bit? Lol I call it gold/silver/bronze because of background but I've seen some just call it resources in general, others calling it quarter/half/full even some dude calling the top one a butterfly, whats the most common term?
Hate to bump but I really would like to get info on how I'm supposed to improve crafting without questing
Probably buy stuff at the auction house.
I assume it is easier to get money at higher levels than it is at lower levels, so that should even things out and maybe stabilize server economy a bit.
Maybe in the future that will be viable but atm I'm looking at 50g for a rank 2 item, really not worth the return in mats considering I could only make 1-2g from them. Having crafting rely on others is a bit strange tbh, there must be some way end game to get regular gear. I know from the UNTIL missions you can get a few but I'm told they have a crappy cooldown. With the current system it would rely on how many people are levelling as to wether I'm able to buy the items to make into the materials I need, seems a really strange way of doing it.

Yes, I just checked. The prices are insane.
I just ran into the same problem. I need low-level crafting components, but he only way to get them is either from items of lvl 2-8 (that cost, ahaha, GLOBAL resources at the auction house) or scavenge around Project Greenskin/Steelhead.
Wish we could convert higher level stuff into lower level stuff.
Also, how do you get slight and mild epiphanies once you're past the point where low-level crafting is considered a 5 points experiment?

Another problem I'm also having, I read that researching with the lowest ranks possible can help increase your chances but from 31-36 I have yet to get a single one and I've researched every quest reward, most of them twice because I trade science for arms with a friend Still no epiphanies other than the ones for my current tier.
experiments with fewer stars can generate lower rank epiphanies. the experiment stars is what counts, not the item stars.
the resource names are global national local
the market ****etry is mostly due to the lack of powerful filters in the market. however, you can still usually find items in the appopriate range for reasonable prices. i dont know about 31+ though. *shrug*
when you get to 40, arn't you wanting to progress to UNITY/PVP/etc super-items anyway?

Well the item stars directly affect the experiment stars Resource names are gonna take me a while to get used to, pretty strange names imo. I assume that getting any of the "super-items" from end game will be a time consuming process and being fully equipped with the best crafting gear can only make that go easier but from what I hear its practically impossible to get mats once you stop questing.
