Help with my FPS (no, not just a repeat of the other threads about it)

I'm wondering if the kind folks here can help me out.

See, i thought I was just having the same FPS issue as everyone here, so I didn't think much of it, but upon running 3dmark, i am concerned my rig is having issues.

Now, i played crysis on this rig, not on the highest but medium-high settings with zero problems. its becoming a bit dated but I still think this should run fine on it. Empire total war runs perfect on max settings and other games as well like fallout.

Here's my rig:

Intel Core II q6600 2.4ghz (quad core)
geforce 9600gt
4 gigs ddr2 800 ram
if it matters i have a 4 gig flash drive in as well readyboosting

vista 64bit home premium

I'm getting 8-15 FPS in most places in CO, when i first log in i can peak near 30, and hover around 25, and it dwindles down to the 8-15 range. That i associate with the common issue everyone seems to be having. The concern i have is that when i ran 3dmark06, i only scored a 4000 and the gpu tests ran at about 10fps.

Then i installed CO on my g/f's computer upstairs and it is the EXACT SAME COMPUTER with the exception of different sized HD. She gets 40+fps on CO.

So i'm baffled...is there anything I can do to diagnose my system to see if my vid card is wearing out, my psu is not putting out enough juice, etc etc, anything that might be causing me to have horrendous results compared to a near exact copy of the rig sitting upstairs in my house?

Here's my DXDiag stuff if that helps

Any help would be appreciated. For the record i already ran adaware with most recent definitions so we can rule out spyware and viruses as a cause of a slowdown

Try changing the server slots ... I also got isssues like that in Open Beta and changing the server slot helped most time. Bad if all slots a laggy ;)

I also wonder about Vista 64 Bit driver 190.62 thats displayed in your DxDiag ... seemes like the 32Bit driver or is this just a mistake of my driver site? Because the latest 64Bit driver I see is the 190.56

Heh, a video card won't wear out, it just dies. That being said, even though you guys have the same computer, there are several things that might be causing this.

#1. Old drivers or corrupt drivers. Use a program like drive sweeper to remove ALL of your old drivers and reinstall them all. If you really wanted to be sure, back up your drive, wipe it clean and reinstall your OS.
#2. You might have malware/virii or something using up all your resources. Maybe just a virus scanner could be the culprit. Get a few malware/virus programs and run deep scans. Again, wiping the HD and reinstalling would fix this too.

That's about all the advice I can think of...I think your comp should definately be getting better 3dmark scores than that.

What kind of background processes are going on as the poster above me mentioned.
    Any downloads, software, etc running?
Have you tired shutting down your av and shut off any auto updaters?
