Firstly, I have a GTX 280 and a Q6600 Proc running this game. Just got the game yesterday, and I noticed that with just a tiny bit of quick experimenting, this thing doesn't crank up well. I am wondering from those who have had a chance to experiment a bit more...what did you find gave you the best balance? Are there some intense features that don;t add too much value that I can turn off? I have seen games with far more polygons than this get thrown around by my machine with great ease. So suggestions are quite welcome.

IPS: Heard someone say that turning off the cartoon look would make a drastic difference. Thanks for any suggestions. Happy gaming. :)

The game currently uses the cpu's entire processing power while running, and very little of your vid card. The devs are aware of this, and are trying to come up with a solution. As for increasing performance, it's been suggested that you can try turning off ambient occlusion, and forcing threaded optimization through your nvidia control panel to off.

Yeah...I was just reading all the frustration over this issue. LOL @ video over CPU instead of GPU....that is kind of a great BIG mistake as I can see it. Engine level type stuff. How this could be a quick fix I am not sure. But I hope its soon.

I know that launches of these things can be rough..so i will hang in there. The world needs a new good MMO...c'mon guys...don't let us down. :)

I was playing this last night and I do like it. :)

Same here. Patience is a virtue. Give these guys at Cryptic some time. I'm sure they'll get it resolved. The world INDEED needs another good MMO. I'll be hangin on as well.

Indeed. A fundamental game engine based problem, would never show up until launch, certainly not when the engine was first created, nor during internal testing, or alpha, or closed beta, or open beta.

They have had no time to find the issue and work on rectifying it, until yesterday... so give them time.

The comic book styling definitely is a big FPS eater in my machine. I turned it on for a while but things were suddenly too slow. Other than that, I'm playing at high everything on my aging 8800 GTS perfectly fine (remember this is subjective, what is fine for me may be 'unplayable' to others)

I've done a bit of playing around with fraps and the settings and am running a different system, e8400 and hd4830, but have found a few settings seem to make a much bigger fps difference. I'm currently running with antialiasing off, shadows on low, and everything else maxed and am currently getting 40 fps avg. With AA maxed and shadows on high I was getting roughly 25 fps avg. I can squeeze a couple fps out if I turn off the comic outlining but I like it so it stays. The lighting quality setting at the top also makes a 10 fps difference for me when switched to low but a lot of detail is lost. I'm happy with my performance now and the game looks great.

All the other settings don't seem to make a difference for me.
