i have plugged in the 360 controller via USB. my PC downloaded the software and installed it. How do i initialize it in champions? it is not straight forward, and no instructions.

I have tried pressing the xbox middle button and it wont find anything, only my 360. i unplug my 360 so the controller doesnt detect it, but it wont detect anything now.

Why wont it initialize. There is an option for rumble, no option for controller. keymapping doesnt work as the controller apparently isnt being read.

thanks.

i cant play this game with a keyboard and mouse, its ridiculus.

    If you have the 360 controller drivers installed and set up correctly just plugging it into the usb port (in the game or not) should make the player 1 light up on the xbox center ring. You shouldn't have to press it to initialize or anything.

    If it doesn't try another usb port, or re-install drivers.
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/1/f/81f54fd0-044d-43e1-af4a-4cb4029ac41a/Xbox360_32Eng.exe
    (360 controller XP drivers)

    Also, if the controller is active when you start up Champions, it'll recognize it. You'll notice tiny little A,B,X,Y icons supper-imposed on the powers tray.

    Lastly... here's a list of the current controller configuration:
    * R - next target
    * LTrigger+R - prev target
    * RTrigeer+R - switch between hostile/friendly
    * L+R - clear target
    * L+move RStick - switch target to next in that direction
    * A - Jump
    * RTrigger+A - Down
    * LStick (button) - travel power 1
    * RTrigger+LStick (button) - travel power 2
    * RTrigger+LTrigger - Block
    * X, Y, B - powers 0, 1, 2
    * LTrigger+X, Y, B, A - powers 3, 4, 5, 6
    * L+X, Y, B, A - powers 7, 8, 9, 10
    * RTrigger+X, Y, B - powers 11, 12, 13
    * JoyPad_Right+X, Y, B, A, R - devices 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
    * JoyPad_Right+X, Y, B - equipment 0, 1, 2
    * JoyPad_Down+X, Y, B, A, R, L - switch build to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
    * JoyPad_Up - Interact

    Interact can be a bit subborn, especially when there's more then one object within range. You'll probably still want to use keyboard mouse for chat, inventory, ect... but the controller works well for combat.

    Remember that you need a USB Xbox 360 controller or a USB XBOX 360 Wireless Receiver to use your controller. The Play and Charge kit WILL NOT allow you to use your xbox 360 controller on your PC for this or any game.

    So true, and any forum or google search could have told you that immediately.

    I think you're projecting some of this anger. I didn't mean to come off as hating. It was a common issue back in beta where people were trying to use Play and Charge kits on their computer. Just trying to help, and maybe just to breathe every now and then.

    I was confused on what you were using as well because it doesn't make sense for the xbox button to find your 360 if it's a wired controller plugged into your PC.

    I hope that reinstalling works for you. On Windows Vista 32 bit Home edition last night I plugged in my wired controller and was immediately able to play with it in Champions without going anywhere and installing a driver.

    I'm guessing that once Champions officially supports the controller (it is currently at your own risk) they will have better support for installing and troubleshooting.

    Thank you DayVeeMan for those controls. I was wondering how to target friendlies and how to go down while flying.

    Yes, you should have been more accurate, but thats ok. And everything you described would be what happens if you connect a controller by means of the play and charge cable, while pretty much nothing of it happens on an actual wired controller.
    So keep your little bout of nerdrage to yourself :)

    For the sake of a shameless plug for the FAQ I have just finished laboring over, there is a section towards the middle that addresses your issues. It sounds like you had the sme problems that I did, in getting Windows to recognize the XBOX360 controller. Hopefully the tips in this post helps ersolve your issues. http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=51461

    fact of the matter = He did not come in here with the purpose to HELP he came in to try and make someone look stupid, to make himself feel better about himself ( or for whatever reason its irrelevent ) when in turn he makes himself look like an idiot. And no anger here because thats what fuels people like mchate. just annoying, given he has nothing better to do.

    you mustbe friends, or theres something wrong with you for even defending these types of people. anyways conversation over, unlike you guys im busy and here to get something solved.
