I took ages to design the perfect costume then set off in the Darkness powerset to reach level 11. However now I have realised taht the costume does not go well with my choice of powersets and want to change it. I have been to the tailor and changed a few bits and pieces that I could afford but I want a complete makeover and dont have the money for it at the moment.
I am wondering if it would be possible to make an alt, design the costume I want for my main on my alt then save it and just load up the alts costume on my main in the tailor? Would that save me money and time or is it just not possible to change costumes between different characters?
You can do that but it doesn't save you money. In fact it might cost you a lot more. Each costume region appears to have a 'changed' flag that is used to determine what the costs will be (so you can change something many times and only have the cost applied once). I think when you load from a file all the regions become flagged, and thus your costs are huge.
That said, I'm of the firm belief that the costume change costs are a bit high. Of particular annoyance is that the cost isn't any cheaper when you get the option to create a new costume. I'd like my secondary or tertiary build costumes to significantly different than my main one, but I can't really afford to change more than two or three pieces. In my opinion, the additional costume slots should be free or extremely cheap for an initial design; the costs are somewhat okay for an existing costume edit.
I would just like to take a moment to say that 1) I am a costume changing wh0re. and 2) They are a bit expensive now but think about the cost of changing them compared to the resources you will have when you are level 30+. I am going to jump off the deepend and say that once we start getting higher levels and the resources really start coming in, Costume changing will be an insignificant cost. In the meantime, lets try and get the devs to make it so we can bind the costumes to keys so we can change them on the fly. =D Bluestar
You can load it up, however it will likely be more expensive. Unless you get the alt with exactly the same face and body proportions then this will change on your character too. I'm not sure if there is a cost involved with changing the face and body dimensions though.
Im only level 11 so I might just start from scratch then and delete all my chracters and start again - seems like its a good idea anyway as I started them all up in the Head Start and after the latest patch things have changed across the board (and the respec feature appear to be expensive)

I'm pretty sure there is.
