Ugly casting/charge bar?

If user interfaces in MMOs had an ungly duckling, it would be the casting/charge bar for Champions. It is the most obtrusive and ugliest bar I've seen in an MMO, as far as I can remember.

I think it needs to be re-designed and hopefully with the addition of a customizable UI, it can be moved and resized.

What do you gals/guys think? Does the current casting/charge bar need to be re-designed?

If you mean the yellow-orange-red bar that pops up when you maintain or charge an attack, I really don't mind it at all. It does what it needs to do, and it at least somewhat keeps up with the whole 'comic book action' theme. I like having a wide bar, since it gives you more of an exact measurement than a small bar. Maybe if the slope was a little smaller and less dramatic, though, it would take up a little less space it doesn't need to.

Definitely disagree with it being 'the most obtrusive and ugliest bar in any mmo'. If they put this in another mmo, like WoW or FFXI, yes, it would be hideous, but that is because it completely clashes with the mood and color scheme of the game. I much prefer this bar over the generic, thin glowing rectangle bar of other games.

Good points. I do agree with the theme continuity and that it should probably at least be a little less pronounced. I play on a 40" and it just seems big to me. At least the option to resize or move would be nice.

Even if I think it is fine, there should definitely be a way to resize the various parts of the interface. Like I said, I would love if the bar was the same size horizontally, but smaller vertically. Maybe even allowing us to adjust the transparency of it would be a good idea. The bar could be as big as it is now, if it was only at 70%-ish transparency.

When you press f12, you are allowed to change where you want each part of the interface. I have not tried to see if the charge bar can be resized, but other bars can, so I assume that it can also.

In my opinion, I can't stand that charge bar, I think it's fugly, but it fits the theme of the game, and I think I would be okay if they just made it thinner. I could live with its fuglyness.

That was one of the first negative things I noticed about the game. When that thing popped up for the first time, I immediately thought to myself "I hope you build custom ui's for this game". For the most part, I like the interface, but that charge bar, while it definitely gets the point across, is just too much.

I agree, the first time I saw the charge bar I thought ZOMG how ugly, badly placed and needless. Besides that, it's just plain obtrusive to the feel of the game. I'd much rather have some kind of glow that builds up on the figure that indicates the degree of charge. I'll have to try resizing it as well this evening, let's hope that works because it's *nasty* looking.
