Game-breaking bugs not ironed out from beta, why?

I understand that it's hard to patch everything up in an MMO prior to release...

But what I don't understand, is...
Why are all of these huge bugs that were super easy to reproduce (such as No Shards, bugged Canada map, pet problems, etc.) not fixed? Is that not what a beta is for?

Some of these problems are actually entirely game breaking...

I pre-ordered the game from GameStop specifically so I could get into the headstart so I could see how release was doing, which has been going for a day or so now, and I have yet to be able to get into the game due to the "No Shards Found" bug (giving me a really good idea of how the launch is going), and find this really dissappointing, almost to the point where I wish I could get my money back for the game, but I can't yet, because the game isn't officially out.

The pet bugs make pet classes almost useless in the higher level game.

Not really gamebreaking, but the Canada map is just plain ugly enough with that big black square to get players that are really shallow to quit at the first sight of it.

These are all things that should have been ironed out in the beta, and yet it looks like the developers haven't even touched them.

Not to nit-pick but you really should not use the term "game breaking" when describing these bugs. I'm sure Cryptic is working double time to get as many things fixed as they possibly can but you must understand that they have a bug priority list and are following the proper procedure and timelines to get them fixed by priority. Granted those bugs you list are annoying but not game breaking. There are plenty of people thoroughly enjoying the game in its current state.

Please remain patient with Cryptic. It's not like they are all on the beach at club med sipping pina colada's.

Gamebreaking = unplayable, and bad enough to turn people away from even giving the game a chance.

No Shards Found, ever? That's incredibly game-breaking. It's not annoying, it's unplayable. At least in the beta, you could try over and over again til it worked... I've been trying repeatedly since headstart started, and guess what, I've never been able to log in and play. I haven't even gotten to make a character yet.

Pets not working at all how they're supposed to? Also gamebreaking for anyone who uses that playstyle.

The map for Canada? Ok, not gamebreaking, but it's easy enough to fix that it should've been fixed in the /closed/ beta.

The pet AI bugs basically completely break the Gadgeteer "class", so yes, in a sense, the issue is "game breaking" in that it is counter to the intended function of the power. More importantly, it's frustrating... and not fun.

This said, the "we'll fix it in the next patch" is a pretty common mantra in any modern PC-based game development process... especially MMOs or other games that by their nature are online.

Though rarely is it not fixed at least within a few patches... These problems have existed since the /first/ beta, so you'd think that they'd fix them, and the inability to log in is counter-productive for a near-release game, moreso than that of servers going down every few hours/days for a couple hours at a time.
