Disconnected constantly every few minutes

I'm hoping someone can verify that this isn't just me and it is a widespread issue and something that will hopefully eventually be fixed. Here are the specs of my computer:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 3mhz
8 Gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
Windows Vista Ultimate x64

My problem is that I can't play the game without being disconnected constantly. I will play for five minutes at most and get a Server Not Responding error and then get logged off. Not to mention the constant rubberbanding and what not. I'm on a 3mbs cable connection and the game runs perfectly fine otherwise, as far as graphics and framerate goes, it's just that I can't play because I'm constantly getting disconnected. I have seen a thread in one of the forums where tons of people have posted about this issue, but still, I wanted to see if there was perhaps something being done about this by Cryptic, because honestly this is criminal. I stupidly paid for a lifetime subscription and love what I've seen so far, but I cannot actually play reliably making this the equivalent of basically flushing $200 down the toilet.

I'm willing to be patient if this is just the typical MMO start-up issues, but isn't this exactly what beta is supposed to iron out? So how about it? Is this an issue that will be ironed out in a few weeks, or am I going to log back in a month from now and still see the exact same crap? Any thoughts?

Oh, and I find it hard to believe this is an issue with my system as far as connection goes because I can play other MMOs, like WoW with absolutely no lag issues at all. Even in the most heavy populated areas I don't suffer lag on this machine, so I can't see it being my connection or computer. If WoW can handle it, this newly developed MMO should be more than capable of handling it.

Thanks for the response guys. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't losing it or missing something. I won't say I'm a computer expert, but I am a computer programmer for a living so I know them pretty well. Enough to know that nothing happening is a result of my system at least.

Oh, another really awesome symptom I'm experiencing is often times when I've logged back in after being disconnected, all of the dead NPCs in the desert zone (which is the one I'm currently in) stand up and then flop back down to dead. In fact I've seen this so many times I sometimes have a hard time telling who is alive and targetable and who is a dead NPC. And they do it repeatedly. As soon as they flop down they stand back up and repeat. Almost hilarious if it didn't lead to server disconnects.

Anyway, it's too bad because this game seems so much better to me than City of Heroes so far and I would really love to get more into it but clearly this game is absolutely no where near ready for launch, and yet Cryptic was more than happy to take my $200 and laugh all the way to the bank while I can't play what I paid for. Really this is the same as theft in my opinion. I paid for services that are not being rendered to me. Or perhaps it's fraud?

Cryptic better be careful because if this keeps up without any acknowledgment from them, I can easily see a class action lawsuit happening for the very reason I'm describing. Paying for services that are not being rendered due to the game being almost entirely unplayable at no fault of the user. I believe people have sued over exactly that same thing in the past and won.

Sorry to hear you guys are having this issue can you please post some more detailed information on the type of network your running off of. Also can you post what service providers you are using for your internet connection. Most of the time when you receive the "Server not responding" message this is due to temporary server instability, which is common place with a new MMO.

Wow, thanks for an actual official reply. I'm very happy to have received that as it goes a long way in calming me down. I'm an adult and willing to be patient for you guys to work out the kinks (though really that should be done in larger and more widespread betas), but if I can't get any kind of response from someone that the issue is actually be worked on then it just tends to make things get worse. So seriously, thanks for at least responding.

I'm using Cox Cable in Virginia on a 3mbs connection as I said. But really, as I also said, I know it's not an issue on my end or with my hardware or connection. It is clear that it's an issue with your server or servers, I would have just thought it would be one of the main focuses for your team before launch. Anyway, you acknowledged as much, that it's an issue with your servers and probably due to being a new MMO, so I greatly appreciate that. I just hope it is actively being worked on because I am very excited to keep playing what seems like a fantastic MMO, however I cannot realistically due so when I'm logged off every few minutes. Thanks again.

Yes, the dev team is looking in to correcting the server instability and hopefully we will have a solution with that. I personally experienced some connection issues with Champions this weekend as well, but it was due to my cable internet provider not our servers. The issue expanded past champions into other online games and programs. This may not be the solution to your issue, but something to look into just in case.

I just had it happen twice in a row for the first time today. "You have been disconnected from the server."
I played open beta and am now in headstart and it is a new one for me.

I Live in Southern Illinois and our internet provider is Mediacom CC. We have a 8 mbs line.

I have tried unplugging my router and hard wiring into the modem with no luck. Sometimes I can play an hour sometimes it will give me server not responding every 2 to 5 minutes and other times i just log in only to get booted

ironically this seems to almost always happen after I have finished my current mission or before it begins .. not too often am i kicked out during a mission. Other than in Fight club the last two nights I was probably kicked 10 times trying to run through it two times

Also as long as I am not playing Champions online my internet never goes out

But there are many times when I am playing the game it will knock out my modem and I'm stuck at local only (usually only last 30 seconds to 2 minutes or so and even sometimes my modem will reboot itself

I have had this problem on 3 different computers and 2 different internet providers ever since march when I joined the Closed beta

I am about to try a 4th computer and a 3rd internet provider tonight

    I have tried xp and win 7 32bit and win 7 64bit

If it is server instablity...it is aroujnd 100% of the time for a lot of people (http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=35438)...aren't devs on this issue ?

    Hi,

Im In Scotland on an 8meg line. Ive done various tests / checks my end to ensure that it is not a problem with my connection, however, every other program seems to be working fine on the internet. But as soon As I try to get into Champions I get:

Trying to retrieve character list hang.
    Server not responding hang.
Game loads but with horrible lag and rubberbanding followed shortly by "serer not respionding".
    Disconnected from server.

For the entire pre-start I have been trying frantically to get into game to enjoy the event and get the goodies associated with it, but this has been impossible.

In closed beta I had no issues, they began towards the end of open beta.

    Thanks for your time,

    Kaii

I'm in Missouri using Time Warner's high speed road runner service. I get a lot of Disconnected From Server issues when build my hero (I save a lot) and more rarely I get server not responding issues. Like this morning as soon as I logged in, selected my hero I was Disconnected From Server. Some times its constantly for about 10 minutes.

This is pretty much the same problem as me....except the fact that I had those problems right when I got Closed beta (first play was august 5 or so I think...) and they never really stopped...
