Power Replacer not working (Crystal of Night)

I have one telepathy skill, Ego Sprites. I just crafted the Crystal of Night which says it adds darkness damage to telepathy attacks. I equipped it, it read Currently enhancing:Nothing. I tested in the PH for 10 min spamming Sprites, it never procced at all.

    It may actually be Ego Sprites that's bugged. I've tried all of the On-Next-Hit Gadgeteer powers (Toxic Nanites, Sonic Device, etc) with it, and every time it fails to trigger the appropriate effect.
