Particle Physics Disabled is a nice performance boost

I hadn't read this elsewhere, but I noticed a significant increase in performance on my system:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz
4GB RAM
Nvidia 9400 256Mb
WinXP SP3

Just setting the particles to around 25 (from 100) was huge, but I ended up completely removing them for a dramatic improvement.
