Server saying it's down, when it's up.

I was just in the game, and left to swap characters 'pushing exit instead of log out' and now find that it says 'server down' at this very moment. I've been trying to get on, reopening the patcher, and for a split second it said the server was up. Any thoughts on what's causing this?
