I need like 10 or so slight insights to get all the recipes...how can I go about this? Do I have to grind low level mobs for items? I dont want to do that :(

If you already ground up all your lowend quest rewards and can't find anymore lowend quests.... you can fly arround and harvest the right level nodes and make/research gear over and over... I basically held off training once i reached 100 level to gather insights by making a bunch of my highest level recipe and than breaking it down again (cause it was a 5/5 on the experiment meter which = greater chance of insight)

if you already leveld beyond and your single experiments are 1/5 you can stack up to 4 items to breakdown at once and that you've made.

if you just need raw materials and don't have low level alts to provied mats you can try the auction house as well in mc (next to the bank)

5/5 is the best chance of an insight of that level. It is not the best chance of an insight of lower level.

That system needs to change frankly. At 200+ you are very unlikely to get anymore 5/5 items and you easily hit 300 and only manage to get like two insights on the way there because of it.

Awesome. What IS the best chance for an insight of a lower level?

In fact, I want the "stuff you'll get from breaking this item down" display to include things like insights and indicate the chance of the current experiment generating them. That way I can make the decisions as I go.

From an older post it seems if you need a lower insight you should research at lower the 5/5. Also you do not have to have 1 item at 5/5 got get an insight. You can use 2 or 3 if you need to from what I understand.

so i take it I should have not trained up until I learned all the recipes, if I wanted any more slight insights

There is a fundamental problem with the insight system. Its not explained to new players so you lose the ability to gain the insights as you lvl without knowing how to get them.

Secondly the drop rates even of 5/5s is so low that you easily outlevel your skill so once you get the insight you practically don't need it anymore because you are close to move on to the next tier where the last insights are utterly useless.

I can understand the reasons for the system but the way its made is making crafting unfun and not very useful.

I kind of agree. The insight system is almost a good idea, but it needs tweaking. If you have a better insight but you need a slight and it doesn't work, thats a problem that needs to be fixed.

yeah what i was getting at was don't train your skill level beyond 100 until you've gotten all the slight insights you need... mainly by making and than researching the highest level researchable item you can make over and over again first (which should be a 5/5 for each single one at level 100 skill)... if you buy the level 200 skill, that experiment becomes a 1-2/5 and only gives you 0-1 skillup points anyway

if you really really want more and haven't gotten too far beyond 100, you could always pick up a differ craft and than re pickup the craft you want and start over from 0... after you've stockpiled items to breakdown for insights...

Interesting notes. I was saying to my SG last night that it seemed they UP the drop rate of "insights" (different crafts use different names). In beta I never saw a single one under level 100.. Lastn ight I got like 5 or so before I hit 100.

Howver I FULLY agree that the system seems broken when it comes to getting "insights" of a lower tier. I still have not found a way to get them. Neither in beta nor now.

Addressing the core problem here: how about just making it so that you can use "slight insight or anything higher" to purchase a blueprint, rather than requiring the lower level one? It's nominally wasteful in that you're expending a higher-level insight to get a lower-level blueprint, but would let people fill in the gaps if their pile of insights is top-heavy.

(With a warning before it happens, of course)

What about breaking apart an insight then? One regular insight = 2 minor insights. 1 minor insight = 2 slight insights etc.

Yes, it would then work the same way as Lesser/Greater Essences in WoW's enchanting/disenchanting system, but it's relatively elegant and straight forward, so easy for folks to understand.

you gain lower tier insights at higher tiers, they just require less complex experiments to get.

You can stack up multiple items to improve the quality of your experiment. You can pile up multiple until you get to 5/5. Yes, 5/5 are meant to be more work to get.

The breaking apart thing isn't going to work because the biggest problem is getting the higher level insights. Once you get past 200 it's almost impossible to get insights because even your best items are only going to be 3/5 and you can easily skill up to 300 that way while only getting 1 or 2 insights.

The system is just flat out broken all around right now.

This is not working last I tested it in beta. Either that or getting 5/5 requires more items than I even had at the time.

Depending on the quality of the items it just might take some time to get from 4/5 to 5/5

Is there a limit to how many items can be included in 1 experiment?

At 160 skill I have had all of 6 Slight profundity's. I still have 3 in my inventory unused. ::sigh::

What is needed is the ability to break down higher to lower and to convert lower to higher.

similar to how you can convert the common components to semi-rare.

For example they could allow breaking down one tier 2 insight to three tier 1 insights and converting five tier 1 insights to one tier 2 insights.
