Hello my name is Ryan, how was your day? Mine was messed up. DISASTER STRIKES!!! Documented:
Computer Crash: August 27, 2009
Computer crashed before making it to windows login.
Possible Cause: Tried to uninstall an application for Canon Registration Purposes.
Couldn't open start menu applications, restarted, then couldn't make it to the windows login.
Luckily had an image on the hard drive and wasn't affected.
Tried to F11 to the system recovery, wouldn't work, although mouse still worked on it's way to windows login before crash.
Figured it was keyboard, switched to a different keyboard, worked.
Did a system restore to a previous version, still existing bugs and issues, backed up information.
Did a full system restore using the image.
Updated AVG Antivirus and did all Windodws updates.
Graphics cards are GeForce 9800 GS MXM version in SLI configuration.
These cards are specific to machine, HP VoodooPC Firebird, Vista freaked out trying to find drivers.
Used NVidia site, has a nice auto-scan hardware feature to find updated drivers.
Downloaded and installed Drivers. Vista was still like, wtf, but they installed correctly.
Installed various drivers, including keyboard Logitech Illuminated... has nice onscreen context for keyboard controls.
Was careful installing Canon stuff, Just installed basic drivers and a Easy Photo print application.
Recently bought Razer Mamba gaming mouse, true wireless gaming mouse using lithium ion batter rechargable with docking station and also has corded option.
Updated drivers and tried to update firmware for the hardware mouse + docking station.
Certificate issue while installing drivers for docking station before firmware update.
Advanced boot menu F8, once again had to switch keyboards, turned off certificate authentication for drivers.
Re-installed updated firmware for mouse and docking station, worked.
Installed Itunes, used the music folder on my slave drive as default music folder, imported music.
Various cover artwork missing, iTunes now makes it easy to grab artwork from store with account.
Had to update ipod, once anything is changed in song, copying songs over will duplicate if modified.
Deleted modified songs off iPod and updated.
Basic PC Configuration SUCCESS!!!
Now on to installing the Champions Online beta client, have access to early headstart, was worried computer was dead before the headstart, what a relief!
Approx Time: 16 hours with breaks.
