Greetings heroes abroad. I am The Fighting-Canadian, founder and director of G.L.O.B.E. We operate from our flying fortress, the G.L.O.B.E. Aero-Carrier, Artimus. G.L.O.B.E. is an extra-government intelligence and security organization dedicated to protecting the nations and peoples of Earth from all threats, terrestrial or extraterrestrial. These threats continue to lurk at our doorstep, waiting for the most opportune time to attack and threaten all that we hold dear. I took it upon myself to create this international peace keeping organization so that we would be able to aid all lands and nations. We are an international group, consisting of heroes from around the world. We operate under the juristiction of the United Nations, but are governed by no one entity.
I urge you to join our ranks. Our enemies do not care about boundaries or borders, and the matter in which we defend ourselves should be no different.

Code Name: The Fighting Canadian
Real Name: Andrew Cote
History: Andrew Cote was born in Victoria, B.C. on March 14th, 1907. In 1938 Andrew joined the Canadian Army. He did not come from a family of war veterans, rather, he was to be the first Cote in recent history to carry the Canadian Flag into battle. It was the summer of 1937 and it was on that cool June morning that his baby girl was born. Many thoughts rushed through his head as he lay with his wife and newborn. "I can keep her safe in my home, I can keep her safe with me...but what about when I am no longer able to watch over here as she gets older?" It was then that he decided to join the Canadian Military. He would assist the canadian military and offer broader protection to his newborn. He would fight for her, and his country.
Andrew had only been in the military for a little over one year when World War II started. Between the stories of the Nazi super power and it's goal of conquest over various nations, as well as the emergence of super powered criminals he worried, now more than ever, of the safety of his family and his beloved country. The American government seemed to be, wether on their own accord or not, producing super powered heroes and soldiers. As time went on more and more super beings, good and bad, were coming out of the woodwork. As in any arms race the Canadian government did not want to be left behind. The Canadian government put out word to all branches of the military that they were looking for volunteers to undergo top seceret experimentation to assist with the escalating population of super beings as well as to gain an edge on the frontline in the war in Europa. From then on the operation was code named Operation: "Canadian Shield"
Andrew volunteered in a heartbeat. 15 people signed up for the experiments.......and one by one, the tests failed. It was the 15th experiment, Andrew, that proved successful. The 14 others died due to rapid cellular growth. The experiment on the cellular level was supposed to provide strong cullular regeneration, but with the original 14 their bodies aged at an alarming rate. They aged nearly 80 years in a 48 hour period. Andrew on the other hand, was successful. The exact procedure used on Andrew was tried on a 16th volunteer...but ....as with the original 14, she also aged rapidly and died. It was deemed that the special genetic makeup in Andrew provided the perfect host body for their experiment...but the ability to replicate it in others proved fatal. The government then attempted to save face and thus Operation: "Canadian Shield" shut down.
Andrew was put through an intensive physical and tactical training program,teaching him gymnastics, hand-to-hand combat and military strategy. Three months later, he was given his first assignment, to stop the Nazi army from moving any further into enemy territory. To help him become a symbol of freedom to counter that of the Nazi regime, Andrew was given the red and white outfit of The Fighting Canadian. A testament of the earliest nanotechnology, it was created to protect Andrew from the elements and was near bullet proof. He was also equiped with a shield, to serve as a symbol, as the shield of Canada.
During the war, he served as both a symbol of freedom and Canada's most effective special operative. Andrew fought many battles and helped not only the Canadian Military, but the allied forces as well.
The downfall of the previous 15 volunteers that died perfecting the perfect canadian soldier turned out to have a downfall for Andrew. His cellular growth rate was normal, but the regeneration rate was so high that at the age of 32 his body just kept regenerating inside and out. He was not aging. He lived to see his parents die, his friends, and his ultimate fear....his daughter. Many friends and family came and went but he never aged. He experienced many things and saw many more. The Rikti Invasion was the final straw that tore away the boundries of countries and made the people of the earth see themselves as part of something bigger. No longer seperate countries, when it came to otherworldly threats, we were now all in it together. Doning the flag of his nation and defending those without the means of defending themselves. A shield between us and those who would do us harm, he is the Fighting Canadian.
In January of 2009, The Fighting-Canadian met with the United Nations to discuss the creation of a global organization that would protect the world as a whole.

I'm Ryan, I've been an avid gamer since I can remember. I've been playing City of Heroes/Villains for the past 63 months, and love it. I am also diving into the CO universe for a bit more diversity. I've brought fellow SG mates from CoX here, and I am opening the doors to anyone else who wants to join a fun, friendly RP oriented SG.
