Thanks for checking out this invitation to join my new Super Group Space Invaders! I dont expect this idea will gain huge support, but for those who like it, I think it will be a real blast
This Super Group is more about teamwork and community, then the individual character concepts within it, read on and youll see exactly what I mean. Im trying to create a group of contemptuous antagonists, who are antihero in nature, with B-movie comic quality. Wed have interests in all manner of game elements from PvP, to PvE and RP. And Im looking for fun-lovin mature people from all timezones to enjoy it with, casual and hardcore players a like. If you like what you see below, please post about your interests and any comments that you have concerning whats discussed.
As a themed group there are a few restrictions associated with joining the Space Invaders, but dont let that put you off. I myself am a dedicated member of another SG, so I do not expect this to be your only one either. That said, I am also looking for individuals with some experience to help with the leadership and organisation.
The Idea:
The mysterious Super Group known by the puny earthlings as simply the Space Invaders has been tasked with cataloguing and combating the worst of Earths hazardous-inhabitants and dangerous-denizens, as part of an intergalactic report on sporting and recreational tourist attractions, for a war-like race of aliens! However, some human scare-mongers and opposition super groups believe they are a scouting party for a potential invasion, and they just might be!
The Uniform
In CO we have the luxury of numerous 'costumes', and in Space Invaders we use these as 'on-duty' and off-duty' uniforms. The idea is that your first costume is your on-duty uniform and promotes the group identity. This on-duty uniform can be personalised periodically at certain levels and ranks within the Group, and is used situationally for Group activities along with your other costumes. Another costume slot can then be used as a 'Specialist' role within the Group, such as Medic, Diplomat, etc. And/Or other costume slots can be used as off-duty uniform and really whatever you choose, some ideas are: civilian clothing, undercover Martian agent disguises, or just a personal look.
The Concept:
The group concept for the Space Invaders is that our identity spans from our uniformed appearance. We all look very similar and share a same name Martian! I also think it would look great if the troops all used Hover Disks. Costume and Travel Power customisation is granted as you progress in rank within the group. Freedom from the uniform also comes in the option to have off-duty clothing and when its introduced a secret identity, but I encourage these to also be in-character, in some way, shape or form. Remember that the concept here is an identity based on a uniformed appearance when on duty together. So imagine being part of a squad of Martian Invaders all flying together on Hover Disks. We leave together, we travel together and we arrive as a single unit!
While the organisation of Space Invaders is Military in nature, as this presents an interesting community element of teamwork and leadership, rank promotions, role-play for those who want it, and medals for courage in the face of hostile alien aggression! -I have no intention of allowing this to be a military boot camp; sure, well live up the atmosphere, but no one will force you to do anything you dont want to do beyond the initial enrolment restrictions on uniform and kit.
As a military platoon, we are divided into sections, and squads, each could potentially have a different play-style. Upon enlisting, you will be assigned to a squad providing the interests you specify when enlisting, and assigned an Officer who will coordinate with squads in that section. This allows you to focus on enjoying the game-play elements you like with likeminded people, while allowing us as a faction to play a part in all aspects of the game. In the platoon there are 3 Sections. One whos main focus is PvP, one PvE, and one Role-Play, and of course you can delve into any or all of them as you wish. The key element of the military structure is that it allows us to place players with people of similar interests, and develop a close-nit team spirit, while covering a broad range of activities and character levels.
This Group is for those who wish to enjoy every step of the journey(rather then race to max level) with like-minded people, and play our part in the Champions Online community! The Group will be supported with the usual things; forums, ventrillo and guild portal where you can expect me to push for a high degree of organisation and communication. From the little things like coordinating playtimes to ensure you have people to group with, to coordinated PvE and PvP tactics, teamwork and friendly competition, to the larger aspects of the wider CO community, environment, and our place in it as a Martian Antihero Super Group!
I appreciate this will not be for everyone, but if like me, you see the fun in being part of an organisation with a strong identity, focussed on solid teamwork and structure, then you will hopefully see the benefits to both your enjoyment and your game-play. However, this does not have to be the only SG you join, so your free to give it a try while continuing with your other interests. All I ask is that if you plan to stay, you spend at least a couple of sessions per week on duty with the Space Invaders. We currently have 6 Martians enrolled on the guild Portal but are always looking for more who are willing to take onboard the theme and live up the atmosphere!
The Brief:
Enlist today! Service Guarantees Citizenship!! Explore the galaxy and fight strange Aliens on distant hostile Planets!!!
From this moment you are known as Martian. You have been assigned to investigate the Planet Earth with the rest of your detachment, where you will seek out the most dangerous inhabitants imaginable, and beat them into submission! You are provided with standard issue Body Armour, Utility Belt and Environmental Suit. Your basic military training includes whatever Super Powers you have an aptitude for, there are no restrictions. You are provided with an issue Hover Disc however, but future travel choices are unrestricted, though we do not recommend taking the bus!
As you progress in your career with the Space Invaders you will gain not only power and renown but also Rank. You could become a specialist such as Ambassador or Medic. You may even lead a squad into battle, head up a Section, or command a Platoon of your own!
The Opportunity:
In any community there are those that naturally rise to the forefront, while others prefer to sit back, relax and soak up the atmosphere at a more casual pace. The Space Invaders need both!
If you are a motivated and experienced team player with organisational skills, there are currently opportunities available to join as a Ranking member, perhaps a Medic, an Officer or even Martian Ambassador to Earth! The pays no better, but it grants opportunity to be more involved in the running and organisation of the Space Invaders, and as a perk you can make some additions to your uniform to aid identification of you on field of battle or role-play. Officer Rank allows you to choose Rocket Boots instead of the issue Hover Disk. To earn either of these positions you will have to demonstrate good leadership abilities in the face of hostile alien aggression and a solid commitment to the Invasion
ahem, I mean
our peaceful exploration of planet Earth! If this or another specialist position is your calling, please discuss it with me privately on the Guild Portal.
If you are a more casual gamer, you will also earn Kit Customisation periodically at various character levels, or as rewards for courage in the face of extreme danger! Once again, the intention here is not to limit your imagination, but rather to achieve a uniformed presence as a tight-nit team that feeds into our shared imagination and community. And of course, you have freedom of imagination and creativity when creating your off-duty costumes.
My background:
As you can see, I've put a fair bit of thought into this. As personally, I take the decision to join a game clan quite seriously. Afterall, these are the people with whom you intend to enjoy the game, and in MMOs, its often the company that makes them what they are! On that note, I will briefly write about myself as leader of this clan and with what experience I wish to make this succeed.
First of all my names Nick, hellu! Im 31 yrs and living in the West Midlands, UK. I picked up the nickname NiKtheALiEN some years back when I started my first company, creating special effects, costumes and organising entertainment at public venues and national level events. I later expanded to organising cutting edge Live Action Games or LARP here in the UK that was the basis for many peoples enjoyment for several years. I also helped design and run training exercises in Media Awareness on the battlefield, for British Troops. So you can see that I greatly enjoy team activities, organising, and supporting such activities. I realise that Space Invaders will not be for everyone, but for those who it is, I really think we can have a planet load of fun with this idea! And Im willing to put some effort into seeing it succeed.
Any volunteers to travel to a hostile Alien planet and confront the worst it has to offer, saving a few puny Earthlings along the way?

To the rest of you, no holding back. -I know theres a little green alien inside all of us, just waiting to burst outa your chest!
We now have almost 10 Martians signed up to the Invasion! Currently looking for more EU players, but all are welcome.
I hope then that from our ranks we'll be able to put together an Elite Martian PvP team!
As well as enjoy some atmospheric exploration of the PvE environment together!
And one day perhaps have a strong RP & RP-PvP contingent to generate stories and campaigns with and against other Super Groups!
