As someone who has, at the time of writing this, 59 level 40s on my main alone, plus a heap of sub-40s I'm holding onto for various reasons, and reasons to hop across twenty of them at a time for various dailies, I'd like to raise the possibility of a few QoL features for the character selection menu that would be nice to have for anyone else subject to extreme altitis (which is most players at this point.) The option under Basic to switch between sort-by-last-used and sort-by-creation-date was a great start, but!
1. Expanded character selection pages. Currently, we go off columns of 4/5/4 for 13 per page, which is fine when working with a low character count. When you have to scroll through six, seven or more pages to find one specific character, things tend to get... unpleasant, though. Any increase to the number or length of these columns, allowing for more characters per page, would be very convenient, whether it's 4/5/4/5/4, 5/5/5/5/5, or anything else of the sort. The best of both worlds could even be having an option in the Basic options menu to choose how many characters you want displayed per page.
2. A "pinned characters" list. Some method of assigning a few commonly-used or a few important characters to a column or row of slots that's always on display no matter what page of characters you're on would be immensely useful. Characters you're focused on gearing? Put 'em right here. Characters you resort to switching to regularly to help roll-fill for lairs or at cosmics/eido? Here. Dedicated storage/banking character? Put them right at the front.
3. More sorting options. We currently have a choice between either creation date or most recently used, but how about sort by level? How about an option to invert the direction of the sorting, to view oldest first, least recently used first, etcetera?
4. Pushed to the extreme, custom lists. While it might not be pretty, something like the Re-Train menu stands as proof of concept of being able to sort through a long-ish list by just... having a list of names and a scroll bar, rather than the hexagon-mugshot method we currently use. Being able to create custom lists and adding or removing characters to them would be amazing for character management. Using these twenty-five different characters for event dailies? Instead of keeping a text document to remember the names and wading through clunky, tiny 13-character pages to swap to them one by one, just being able to have a menu containing all of them that you threw together in three minutes at the start of said event would be an absolute godsend. Want to keep track of characters you've fully geared already? Easy! Want to keep track of characters you still need to gear in Justice or Distinguished, or in Onslaught, or something else specific like that? No need to bother with making more out-of-game lists. Want to have a dedicated list for every single ranged DPS you have? Every single melee? Every single health/defense tank? Every single dodge tank? Every single healer? Every single hybrid? Every single petmaster? Every single Archetype if you're mostly a Freeform player who's Lifetime so all the icons look the same normally? So on and so forth? All options.
No matter which of these- or which combination you choose- anything would be helpful for character management when reaching CO's "intended" endgame of juggling an obscene number of characters for a variety of purposes.
The fact that the forums refuse to tell you how close you are to the character/post size limit until you attempt to post something that happens to be too big- and the automated spam filter will immediately completely lock you out of posting long-term if you attempt to post or edit posts too close to the character limit- is genuine agony.
This is my cry for help
