This thread is going to my Personal Info dump of sidekicks ideas I have been having even since 2019!
With the latest Sidekick, Sir Mittenhands, having access to a brand new Dynamic Design that changes role and powers depending on your own role and the Chaos Swarm giving us a team of 5 IMPS together!
My Ideas just resurgenced! There are so many models you can reuse as Sidekicks and make them available for Alerts, Endgame, and Events
I will completely ignore Balance right now for the sake of putting those ideas on paper
I like the concept of Sidekicks, but I'm also obsessed with sticking to my Characters' theme and builds!
I don't like that the majority of sidekicks we have been getting are just Mannequins for the lockbox costume set! I find it boring most of the time (unless they are unique)!
I'm bias and Like to see more Abstract, Surrealistic, Unique, non-humanoid sidekicks ideas!
Ok more Humanoids too! As long as it's Robots, Aliens, Monster beasts and not a GOTH Kid with Infernal powers
My most common used sidekicks are
- Chaos Imp: Used by many of my Spellcasters! Extremely flexible
- Reprogrammed Spider Unit: Which is tagged as Loyal Hechman! I believe the Original DEVS wanted to mark all Non-humanoid sidekicks as Hechman
- P.A.N.T.H.E.R.: Love the slick robot tech design
- Foxbat Stunt Double: Because it is one of the very few robots available... its NOT a good sidekick! It's only here because I use it as a meatshield and I like Foxbat 🤡
- Agate: As Ice Elemental, LOVE THE HAIR
- Rex: As Fire Elemental (DEVs please make his Head as an available costume plz)
- L1L-D0GG13/Overide: As a Steampunk robot dog, can fit many characters' theme
- Toh-Kah/Jaguar Spirit: It's good for Hunters! They are Neat
- Golden Sun: LEGIT one of my most favourites, the Knight can work for many characters who are related to Royalty
- D.E.T.E.R.: GIANT ROBOT! that's all you need to know! Come on now! HOW DO YOU SAY NO TO A GIANT ROBOT? come one now 10/10
Special Appreciation
- Zettabyte: I HATE his costume! I HATE IT SO MUCH!, but I love his power selections that blend together, on a character's build that resembles Green Lantern
- Knaal: Cosmic and Surrealistic design, wish Celestial finally got a DPS pass revamp! Love how she is Levitating
- Prophetess: Not only way better EARTH sidekick than the Boulderoo, but also using a reskin version of Hurricane which could make really good PVD *wink wink*
- Sir Mittenhands: The different role mechanic is absolutely amazing concept and I hope it will become a Norm from now on! Also adorable Puss in Boots sidekick!
- Zhuyin: Only using it on a character who himself is a Dragon, but I really love its aesthetic and Magic theme
- Blizzard Fox: Only using it on a character who is a SPY himself! Absolutely loving how she synergize with my own powers
- Anapa: Only using it on a Magic-Darkess DPS, love the magic aesthetic here too
Comments
The reason I have been wanting to make this entire thread
This Idea came to me during 2019 Bloodmoon! After Playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
and recently having played both the GBA and DS Castlevanian games! Confirming to me that Metroidvanias are the BEST Genre! Absolutely KINO!
With the amount of Weapon Skins we have been getting, why not recycle them for Sidekicks too?
I mean, one of the weapons is literally called Living Sword for Pete's sake! 🤷
I want to believe DEVs took my suggestion into consideration, because the Flying Vampires during Death Rattle have been given a power that Summons 1 Single-sword 🤔
We do have Summon Blade powers, but that's Dual Blades, I'm talking about summoning 1 big beefy Heavy Weapons sword
One for Each Element in fact!
All are Set for Melee
Common Power animations used
1. Living Sword - THERAKIEL'S BLADE
(using... well... Therakiel Sword as skin)
Availability: Drop from Therakiel Temple and Therakiel Rampage! Give more item drops to the people who enjoy these!
2. Living Sword - ICE BLADE
(using the Ice Sword skin)
Availability: Drops from Kigatilik
3. Living Sword - Flamberge
(Weapon Skin unknown, I'm basing this on both Vorpal and Flamberge weapons which form Material Blade from Tales of Symphonia )
Availability: Drops from... Qwyjibo? That's wouldn't make sense
4. Living Sword - Vorpal Sword
(Weapon Skin unknown, I'm basing this on both Vorpal and Flamberge weapons which form Material Blade from Tales of Symphonia )
Availability: I dunno dude! It's a Wind-Water living sword! I hate thinking of putting it on Unknowable Rampage because I hate this Content with a passion
Oh God, with WIND being unrampered in such a sad state, how do I work with this?
If the sword deals only Crushing damage, then what will the EARTH living Sword do?
5. Living Sword - Electric Sword
6. Living Sword - Earth Sword
Earth is currently in even MORE pathetic state that Wind, how can I even work with how much we don't have here?
7. Living Sword - The LIVING SWORD ITSELF
Ironically I forgot it! I still think it looks like SOUL EDGE from Soul Calibur
Roin'esh are the COOLEST aliens in champions online! And I'm definitely biased because I have been playing as one for the past 3 years
Roin'esh is the PERFECT candidate to take advantage of the new Dynamic Sidekick Role mechanic!
Melee/Balanced Role:
Range Role:
Tank Role:
Support Role:
Summons 5 Qularr Fireflies
Before spiders, we already had a Bug-related model
Availability: Cybermind Alert... unfortunately
Summons 3 Data Probes
Copying Zettabyte's ability, The Blue Probe will occasionally summon a Bit-pet that grands the respectful buff passive to allies, but the Bit can be easily destroyed
This looks like one of the few screenshots I took for reference
I always loved the Floating Elements from Cyberminds story! More of these should be utilized for players
https://youtu.be/NLA_IS3GRH8?t=248
Using those Probes as base we could get more elemental sidekicks!
For example Editing the model turn it into a Single Sphere of ICE as ICE elemental
Availability: Forum Malvanum
Yes I'm aware we technically already have access to this via the pet skins, it nice, but are Pet powers aware how horrible outdated they are for endgame?
Besides, Chaos Imp is also available as skin for Summon Shadows, but we still got 2 variation of it as Sidekicks
Just make it it's own Loyal Sidekick with unique powers and moves to make it for more justice!
Such a Cool CREATURE model that I keep forgetting it exists
I love the Gradient of White, pink, purple, violet
Look at him! Just a little GUY!
I was actually going to add the Wind Elemental and the Jinn Become Devices as sidekicks as well
I remember the Air elemental summon, its been years because I instantly dropped it with the common PET ai stupidity (also they don't survive QWZ, not even in Death Rattle)
Also because AIR still needs a Revamp
SIDEKICK: Raging WIND Elemental
WOW Rank 3 of Air Element is a THICC BOI! 👀
If the model could become more Unique, I would definetely take inspirations from the Yugioh Archetype" Cloudian"
In order to make it resemble more like a humanoid Cloud entity! BUT NOT entire human
This is how I picture one
Too lazy to activate my Tablet to draw and do drawing study of Fire Digimon and Yugioh Monsters
but this is pretty much how I would want to see a Fire version of
Honestly I would like the Fire elemental to resemble more the Fire Summon Spirit, Efreet, from Tales of Symphonia (take a shot every time I mention that game, I already did 2 Times)
But they would make EXCELLENT Sidekicks, the models are already ingame
NOT GONNA LIE, kinda want to make a Genie character now
OH WAIT, the Invisible feet aura sucks! It doesn't work during Combat! Nevermind
I believe the Spider model was taken from another Cryptic game for the Cybermind mission, and later reused for Nanobots
RANDOM Trivia time: The panther model and skeleton rigging is straight out of Neverwinder
Which means all the animations are from NWO as well! LOL
I love we got Assets from NWO, and the rig got used for the P.A.N.T.H.E.R.
Summons 5 Nanobot 7, with Nanobot 7.6.3 being the leader
Ability Damage Types: Fire
Abilities Effects: Clingy Flames
It was interesting to experience Nanobot 7, I knew it can replicate itself but not more than once since it's so easy to take down!
SIDEKICK: Nanobot 9 Swarm
Summons 5 Nanobot 9, with the Upgraded Nanobot 7 being the leader
Ability Damage Types: Electric
Abilities Effects: Negative Ions
Nanobot 9 didn't seem to be able to replicate
Yes I have thought of that too
Using the Chaos Imp model as a base, and editing the textures for more elementals
For example apply ICE textures for an Ice Imp e.t.c
Art Source: Fear and Hunger subreddit
Ability Damage Types: Slashing and Magic
Abilities Effects: Bleed, Disoriented, Jinxed
- Isn't it weird that one of the first Lockbox costume unlocks we got was the Skeleton costume set, yet it was never utilized for actual ingame content enemies? It would make sense to add Skeleton warriors around the game
- I Have a Necromancer build, who is surprisingly 100% Viable for doing solo QWZ, and I need more UNDEADS
- I play this game to make mostly Fantasy characters! I believe you can see from the majority of my ideas here that I favor fantasy
- Last year I played GOTHIC 3 with a rebalance mod that made your summons scale with your Ancient Knowledge, making you summon 3 of them in max (2 warriors, 1 archer if I remember well)
- Fear & Hunger solo meta
In 2014, I made a Skeleton Warrior Blade AT, just for fun! I don't play him at all anymore, since I avoid ATs, but he is nice!If I could have my Necromancer using this character as a sidekick
In fact lemme post the costume for ideas, I wish I could make costume showcases for potential sidekicks but It may not worth the trouble
WOW wouldn't be AWESOME if we could Edit the costumes of existent humanoid Sidekicks?
So I could edit Zettabyte's Ugly AAAAAH Costume
or use any of the melee sidekicks as unread warrior or a living armour
SIDEKICK: Poltergeist
Summons 1 Poltergeist Entity
Non-humanoid, surrealistic design, a lot of floating elements! Propably using an invisible Air Elemental as base It's a combination of
While brainstorming this Sidekick's abilities, I came to realization that Madness Aura, even thought it would fit perfectly as a passive for this sidekick, is absolutely worthless in QWZ and in other endgame content, THERE ARE NO OBJECTS IN THE ENEMIES AREAS!
And the power costs too much!
At least Telekinesis summons objects by itself
SIDEKICK: Hakwing Interceptor
Those AF already make an excellent DRONES like
Since Vehicles were nerfed and became useless for the majority of the game! What if we took them, miniaturized them and making them into sidekicks
Let's do something creative as a reference to Shoot 'Em Up 2D Videogames, have the Jets completely change Weapons types on different roles!
Melee/Balanced Role: (IT'S NOT actually fighting in melee range, just swapping weapon marks)
Attacks visuals used:
- Eye Beam
- Plasma Beam
- Pulse Beam Rifle
Mini Ships: Will fire along the main ship on rangeRange Role:
Attacks visuals used:
- Two-Gun Mojo or Assault Riffle
- Bullet Hail or HEAVY MACHINE GUN
- One of those Vehicle attacks that hit multiple targets with bombs
Mini Ships: Will fire along the main ship on rangeTank
Attacks visuals used:
- Pulp Fiction Ray Gun (only using it as visuals reference, it deals Crushing DPS)
- Force Cascade
- Singularity Bomb
Mini Ships: Their Attacks will now applie Power shield on enemies and will periodically shield up the MAIN ship and alliesSupport Role
Attacks visuals used:
- Soul Beam
- Star Barrage
- Take HYPERVOICE and make it deal Magic DPS for this
Mini Ships: Using Celestial Conduit will now Heal the ship and allies with the Illumination ChainHey wanna see one of my Fav Machine Types in Yugioh? Reference to Gradius Gaiden?
If only I could make a proper Theme build around it in ARC-V Tag Force Special, because its a 2015 game and lacks the Gradius Support released after that! 😢
It's genius way of using Token summoning and power up to translate the Gladius special powers and weapons
Along with the Living Swords series, I also had an idea for GRIMOIRE, a series of floating books familiars that cast Range spells!
Considering we have a floating Book aura, it can greatly used as a base! BUT WE CAN DO EVEN BETTER! The Book at the Sanctrum Hideout has better model and animation
Now this is interesting!
You can make Multiple Grimoires using the same recycled base model but with different Elements and colours
and you can have a Grimoire that using the Dynamic Role system as well and focuses on Paranormal Damage
Mind Break and TK Lance could be reskinned to deal Paranormal and Magic Damage for this theme
https://youtu.be/XNxw4x7B1NU
Why yes, this was Inspired by the Great Grimoire Weiss! AKA The best NiER: Gestalt/Replicant character
Here you are SIMPING for 2B like a Fool, when Grimoire Weiss is the SUPERIOR choice with Liam O'Brien's amazing voice acting!
https://youtu.be/yq7dWvVVmKg
Fantastic game! Knows how to use videogame as medium to tell its story
Exquisite Soundtrack with it's music Theory composition and Emi Evans' Chaos Language lyrics! I got attached to the characters!
Gave me Depression - 10/10
WHAT! Oh yeah Champions Online Sidekicks and such
SIDEKICK: Grimoire De La Magie
Summons a Magic Grimoire that will assist you during combat and changing depending on your own role
Using a variety of PARANORMAL-based powers
Common Used powers that are reskinned to deal damage:
Melee/Balanced Role:
Switches to Ego Damage
It's used here to support YOU as a player on Melee Role! The Sidekick itself doesn't fight on Melee but it's using a LOT of Point Blank AOEs to help with Melee's survivability and Crowd Control
- Powers used: Ego Sprites, Ego Storm, Mental Leech, Psychic Vortex, Telekinetic Maelstrom
- Applies Dependency and Stress
- Special: Will unleash an AoE Charge attack that summons TK Lances from the Ground, knocking up the enemies
Don't ask me about Telepathy! I don't like this powerframe as much I like TelekinesisRange Role:
Switches to Ego Damage (True Range)
Tank Role:
Switched to Magic Damage
- Powers used: Eldritch Blast, Star Barrage, Soul Beam, Invocation of Storm Calling
- Applies Jinxed & Hexxed
- TANK Role Special: Cast a MAGIC version of Ego blade Pandemonium on you, that deals damage over time while helping you maintaining Threat as a Tank
I'm Biased, I have a Magic-TK range Tank based on Green Lantern who can cosplay as a wizardSupport Role:
Switches to Dimensional Damage
CELESTIAL Dps revamp PLZ
Now if you wanted for the Grimoire to stick with a certain damage type and NOT having it Multi-role I will have different versions for each DPS type bellow
Floating Stone head
A Large floating Stone head hovering over the ground, as large as your character height, using sonic attacks, beams, mental powers, causing dimensional damage. Using Retro Ironclad head slightly modified, or with a stone texture/aura
Gnomes
In groups of 2 or 3, male and female
Height lmore or less the one of a short character using the Super-Shrinker Aura
They could use Earth attacks and some healing magic
A Group of 3 or 4 Tiny skeletons (aroundthe same size as the gnomes) using single blade attacks (with a bone skin), throwing bones etc.
Just standing near enemies has a chance to apply fear
ROBOT SHARK SIDEKICK
Retool some of the Lemuria Robo shark submarine mobs.
Turn em into robot sharks that fly around shooting lasers, using PA powers while also using bite attacks.
Ninjas
Plain and simple ninjas (maybe 2 or 3)
Use dual blades and claws, throw shurikens and smoke bombs, maybe some MA moves.
Hole in the ground
Your character throws a bottle/flask filled with a dark liquid to the ground.
The Hole forms and follows you around The Hole pulls nearby enemies and drag em in, causing dimensional/crushing damage.
sometimes large Pitch black hands and tentacles come out of the hole attacking nearby enemies.
(I was thinking something like that Looney Tunes episode, "The Hole Idea", but as a sidekick)
I kinda mind because we have completely different ideas and it crashes my own list of Aesthetics and way of thought
