What if each role had advantages. Make them a bit customizable so one Tank wasn't like another Tank. Get an Role Point at level 1, 10, 20, 30, 40.
then give each role a bunch of possible Advs that cost 1-3 points depending on how effective. The Advs would be unique to each role like....
