One-handed magic cannon?

Hello, I brainstormed a neat idea with some friends: A character who builds a weapon that fires mystical energies from an arm-mounted blaster. Two powers I'd like to try for it are Star Barrage and Soul Beam, but the rest is pretty flexible. Powers that fire from the left hand would be best! Any ideas?

Well, it sounds like you can just use both of those powers and the Wisp for a basic Sorc build, and that leaves many other power slots open. For example:

Not an early leveling build, and the last 3-4 powers can be w/e ya want.

The core build is very simple: debuff w/ the Wisp, use Soul Beam for single-targets, and use Star Barrage for AoE. Gears mostly for Int, w/ some Con.

When you say "early build," do you mean I need to get the "Level 30" thing from the C store?

No, just that you can't easily level w/ the powers as outlined. If starting a new character w/ it, then you can simply learn a basic T0 attack like a blast at the start, and retrain out of it later on (since retraining at a PH is pretty cheap at lower levels).

Ah, gotcha. Well thankfully I saved up some XP boosters and had a spare vehicle lying around, otherwise it would have definitely been very hard to do. Thanks as always for the help!

Yea, well in the future now you know you can just do early re-training of basic powers if you see a build w/o a normal attack early on (often such builds are for max level). The build that you level with doesn't have to be the build that you end up with, after all. Glad it work out, either way.
