Public Event Chain: Neo UNTIL

Hey hey people, Ziggy here

I'm writing up another story arc for the public to join, at a time and day requested by a player who couldn't make it last time. This story will revolve around intrigue that comes about as a result of the often common carnage that occurs out in the world of Champions, such as crime, supervillain shenanigans and the machinations of devious factions.

Players can sign up by sending a mail to Ziggy@gilbourne5 ingame or by messaging Cagi#9427 on Discord. Please provide the following information:

Character age (This is more to keep unnecessary themes at bay at the appropriate times)
Powers
A small snippet of their backstory if you so wish

This will be a freeform event chain, meaning no third-party rolling or PvE/PvP, just good old-fashioned storytelling and in-channel emoting. All posts will take place in a privately-hosted channel where attendees will be removed after the arc's completion. To join the channel, right-click your CHAT tab on the top-left corner of your chat window and go to CHANNELS. An invite for the Public RP Event channel should be there by the time the event is ready to start once your information is sent.

A few small rules:

1. The usual business of no harassment or inappropriate comments. This may possibly have 18+ themes but please don't take that as an excuse to describe the squishiness of your gibbly bits, engage in erotic conduct or take it as an excuse to toss about derogatory words.
2. At the present, nobody has a blacklisting or any form of 'charge' against them, so I will not be discriminating on who attends. Please don't be dissuaded or mistreat another who might have a bad rep in your eyes. If they truly are so evil, they won't last long.
3. Power is expected with heroes, but don't use that as a reason to godmode or powergame. Being an almighty all-powerful being, this event chain might not be for one who's of a cosmic scale, so a bit more of a scaled-down character may be more your ball park for both story justification and enjoyment!
4. Please be patient. Not all events will be combat-based, and thus trying to force a fight may only lead to negative consequences IC, and possibly OOC if it's found to be intentionally derailing of the story.

Event 1: A Day at the Bank
Event date: Monday 20th June 3pm EST (7pm GMT-0) (8pm GMT+1 (British time)) (1pm server time)

"We've got a bank robbery in progress at the City Centre bank - I repeat. We've got a bank robbery in progress at the City Centre bank. Seems like a usual case, though these guys seem to be packing military-grade weaponry. Calling all available personnel."

Event 1 Summary:

In a bank at the City Centre, four heroes stepped up: Ritual, Ms Comet, Kakonei and Numbskull. There, the building was held hostage by robbers utilising military-grade weapons and numerous pieces of specialist gear like flashbangs and tripwires. As the heroes forced their way in, they found there were call-outs recognising them by name and powers.

They knew who all the heroes were and attempted to disable them via sensory overload, although had their flashbangs spat back at them. After some memory reading, they found the robbers were hired mercenaries being paid by a man called Martinez, identified by missing hair and eyebrows.

When they breached the main room, they took the hostages and stole the ammo. They all surrendered except for the leader who slit their own throat, intentionally traumatising Comet. When his mask was removed, it revealed a lack of hair and eyebrows like Martinez, except the person's other features were completely different.
Police entered the area and secured the bank, though they started taking items from the deposit boxes, stating that it was part of the investigation. Despite the suspicious activity, these officers WERE in fact legit with their own profiles, so them all being crooked would raise serious concerns.

Noticing this, the make of the guns and the name of UNTIL's co-founder, being 'Martinez', Kakonei called for an immediate evac, called Ziggy and had her get a drone over to drop trackers on the police vans.
As well as camera footage of the break-in, which was a standard deal, except for the fact that all of the guards were systematically killed after a flashbang and follow-up. Swift, clean, near-instant.

All of the hostages were recovered safely, with no sign of harm to their persons, though something seems awry with the good boys in blue...

Event 2: We're Coming For You

With money circulating through the underworld, an increase in cash-based crimes is becoming more and more noticeable. Chaos runs rampant but silently through the city, with heroes being kept on the constant move...though some are going missing without a trace. These days, a lot of key figures are suddenly going missing, some small, some big. Could...you be the next target?

Event 2 Summary:

Over the past few weeks, explosions and dealings in the dark within Millennium City saw heroes alike go into hiding. One thing is for certain: keep a radio or TV on over the next few days...someone is preparing to make a grand statement.

Event 3: Birth of a Heroic Revolution
Event Time: Monday 15th August 7pm GMT-0 (8pm GMT+1 for the Brits)

On the day of the incident, a notice is given as televisions and radios are intercepted. A line of men and women in UNTIL uniforms and blue masks stand in unison.
"Citizens of the world, we have heard your pleas, your cries for salvation. We...have answered. We are Neo-UNTIL, the new world order that will wrest the world from the clutches of those like VIPER, like the gangs running amok through Millennium City, the twisted cults that pervade the various countries for the sake of dark gods. Today, we prove it by doing what UNTIL, PRIMUS and UNITY have all failed to do, and that is by killing the strongest being on the planet: Grond. Keep your eyes and ears peeled, world...you are about to witness humanity's potential."

A roar sounds out across the Burning Sands, echoing through the landscape!

"Citizens of the world, we have heard your pleas, your cries for salvation. We...have answered. We are Neo-UNTIL, the new world order that will wrest the world from the clutches of those like VIPER, like the gangs running amok through Millennium City, the twisted cults that pervade the various countries for the sake of dark gods. Today, we prove it by doing what UNTIL, PRIMUS and UNITY have all failed to do, and that is by killing the strongest being on the planet: Grond. Keep your eyes and ears peeled, world...you are about to witness humanity's potential."

These were the words uttered by the group known as Neo-UNTIL, and these were the last words and known footage of the group's activity. As the heroes Ms Comet, Numbskull, Ritual and Kakonei met to meet the challenge, they caught a mechanical marvel laying waste to Grond in a fight that carved the skies. Cameras were focused on a battle where eyes struggled to keep focus, in what looked like a fight against one, seemed more like a battle against several. However, it seemed there was interference from an unknown source, as tampering with the suit revealed a man inside, devoid of all hair in his body.
Grond was teleported away, and by a stroke of luck, he decided he had other things to do, and leapt away. The suited man attempted to flee, though the damage to his suit prevented him from breaking from the chase. His eyes were exposed, bloodshot with adrenaline which worked against him from the party's magic and tactics, and he was downed by the heroes.
Cameras soon cut out before police intervention, though one Kayla Conner-Quinn was at the scene to take a congratulatory picture with the group of heroes, including her daughter, Kakonei.

What became of Neo-UNTIL? A statement from UNTIL proclaimed that the group's existence was a mockery of the will of the people, and what footage remained of the incident appears to have been buried.
When attempting to interview Mrs Conner-Quinn on the matter, she responded with: "Oh I was mostly just there for the end to cheer on my daughter! Sorry - who were we talking about? Neo-UNTIL? Can't say I've heard of 'em."
Investigations into the source of this group have thus far proved unresponsive, though UNTIL appears to have arrested numerous officials, UNTIL officers and police units that may have had ties.
