I'm not a gun person. However even I know that pellets that spread have almost know penetration, or knocking, power and ment to take out birds and small animals. Slugs are where the punch comes from and are single target.
The current shotgun basically fires about 20-30 slugs in a single blast.

Imo shotguns should automatically do more damage the closer they're fired to their target,
we shouldn't need an Adv for that. It should however have an Adv "Slugs" which removes it's AoE capability,
but greatly increases it's singeltarget and knockdown effect.
I would even go so far as to say that upclose in melee range, a shotgun without Slugs should do 100% more damage,
and with slugs at same range, 200% more damage.
However, I think you're trying too hard to get REAL WORLD to be injected into a game. Many powers are used to fill certain roles and these aren't exactly REAL WORLD.
Don't get me wrong here. I'd love MANY more options, whether it be from advantages to powers OR powers themselves.
