CAME BACK AFTER 1 YEAR ALWAY - Tank REVIEW

lmcnutrilmcnutri Posts: 20 Arc User
After 1 yeah I came back to CO, and was... weird... glad because the things didnt get any major change... and disappointed because of the same reason.

So right now I still using my TK blades cosmic Tank (dual role) build of 1 year ago but I feel the need of a change.

Something totally different to give me a brand new experience tankin and dpsin. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, so I got some ideas from it and would like to know if it's possible to create a build as good as the current meta ones but using my ideas.

Lord Sith = Full electric tank/dps (mainly focused on Tank and just dpsin when tankin is not needed)

Master Jedi = Laser sword / electric / force(?) Tank-Dps (same focus... Tank 1st... dps 2nd)

Dunno if any of these sets got updated but... yea that's my request... wanna know if thats possible and worthy be called cosmic op material.

Tyvm in advance!

Ranged tanking is generally not going to be competitive at cosmics, though it's fine in other content (TA, TT, etc). Laser sword/sparkstorm/ball lightning should be perfectly workable.

    Here's a basic dual-passive Elec Tank:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Any / Multiple)
    v3.44:36

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Constitution (Primary)
    Level 10: Endurance (Secondary)
    Level 15: Dexterity (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Chiller (Dex: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 8, End: 10)
Level 6: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
    Level 9: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 12: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 18: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Electric Bolt
    Level 1: Chain Lightning (Superconductor)
    Level 6: Power Source
    Level 8: Invulnerability (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Ionic Reverberation
Level 14: Ball Lightning (Triplicity, Supercharged)
    Level 17: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 20: Lightning Storm (Rank 2, Stolen Thunder, Challenge!)
Level 23: Lightning Arc (Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenge!)
Level 26: Endorphin Rush (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 29: Electric Shield (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 32: Electric Form (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35:
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 33/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Constitution: Unyielding (1/2)
    Constitution: Fuel My Fire (3/3)
    Constitution: Resilient (2/2)
    Constitution: Adrenaline Rush (2/2)
    Constitution: Armored (2/2)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (3/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (2/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Constitution Mastery (1/1)

The last 2 powers can be w/e ya want. Maybe get a threat wipe for the dps role if you don't want aggro then.

For single-target dps, it does the usual Elec thing of putting up NI and Superconductor w/ Ball Lit and Chain Lit, and then channels LArc as it's main attack while using Ball Lit on cd. LStorm and Ball Lit can also help you w/ AoE. Gears mostly for Con, w/ some End (for Power Source and Ionic Reverb).

And here's a dual-passive melee 'Jedi' tank using the power combo that Panta mentioned:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Any / Multiple)
    v3.44:36

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Constitution (Primary)
    Level 10: Dexterity (Secondary)
    Level 15: Recovery (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Chiller (Dex: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 8, End: 10)
Level 6: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
    Level 9: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 15: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)
    Level 18: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Electric Bolt
Level 1: Sparkstorm (Electric Personality, Challenge!)
    Level 6: Ionic Reverberation
    Level 8: Invulnerability (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 11: Form of the Tempest
Level 14: Ego Weaponry (Rank 2, Siphoning Strikes)
    Level 17: Resurgence (Rank 2)
    Level 20: Ball Lightning (Triplicity)
Level 23: Ego Blade Annihilation (Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenge!)
Level 26: Endorphin Rush (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 29: Telekinetic Shield (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 32: Night Warrior (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35:
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 34/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Constitution: Unyielding (1/2)
    Constitution: Fuel My Fire (3/3)
    Constitution: Resilient (2/2)
    Constitution: Adrenaline Rush (2/2)
    Constitution: Armored (2/2)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Slaughter (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Elusive (2/2)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Constitution Mastery (1/1)

Once again, the last 2 powers slots are up to you.

You'll want to keep Sparkstom's toggle and Ball Lit running in the background here, while you can alternate between Ego Weaponry and charged EBA for your main melee attack rotation. Gears mostly for Con, w/ some Dex (for FotT) and Rec/End (for Ionic Reverb).

    -
I took Ward_Guardicator as the specs in the builds, for a good balance of defense and dps/threat gen, but if you want to focus a bit more on the defensive side then you could change Vindicator spec for Protector spec.

Oh sorry, I misread what you wanted. Here's an LS version of that 2nd build:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Any / Multiple)
    v3.44:36

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Constitution (Primary)
    Level 10: Dexterity (Secondary)
    Level 15: Recovery (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Chiller (Dex: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 8, End: 10)
Level 6: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
    Level 9: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 15: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)
    Level 18: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Electric Bolt
Level 1: Sparkstorm (Electric Personality, Challenge!)
    Level 6: Ionic Reverberation
    Level 8: Invulnerability (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 11: Form of the Tempest
Level 14: Lightspeed Strike (Rank 2, Particle Acceleration, Challenge!)
    Level 17: Resurgence (Rank 2)
    Level 20: Ball Lightning (Triplicity)
Level 23: Luminescent Slash (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 26: Endorphin Rush (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 29: Force Shield (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 32: Night Warrior (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35:
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 33/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Constitution: Unyielding (1/2)
    Constitution: Fuel My Fire (3/3)
    Constitution: Resilient (2/2)
    Constitution: Adrenaline Rush (2/2)
    Constitution: Armored (2/2)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Slaughter (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Elusive (2/2)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Constitution Mastery (1/1)

Basically it's like the TK build, but uses Lightspeed Strike instead of Ego Weaponry, and Lumi Slash instead of EBA. You could get the End of the Line adv on Lumi Sash if you typically have high energy when using it; otherwise R3 is fine for it. The dps slotted passive could also be Elec Form or Quantum Stabilizer here (instead of NW).

Depending on which endgame content you run, there can be different requirements for the current popular strategies (like a threat wipe for a dps in Eidolon or Therakiel's Temple, or an interrupt for tanking the Kiga dogs)...but here's an attempt at a full-service Electric/Laser Sword build:

    sith multi-role - Freeform (Any / Multiple)
    v3.44:36

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Strength (Primary)
    Level 10: Constitution (Secondary)
    Level 15: Endurance (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Rockstar (Str: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 8, End: 10)
    Level 6: Paramilitary Training (Str: 3, Con: 3, Rec: 3, End: 3)
    Level 9: Enduring (Con: 8)
Level 12: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Physical Conditioning (Str: 5, Con: 5)
    Level 18: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)
    Level 21: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Electric Bolt
Level 1: Electrical Current (Rank 2, Bad Wiring, Challenge!)
    Level 6: Ionic Reverberation
Level 8: Electric Form (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 11: Ball Lightning (Triplicity, Supercharged)
    Level 14: Power Source
Level 17: Lightning Arc (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 20: Resurgence (Rank 2)
    Level 23: Defiance (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 26: Laser Deflection (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 29: Luminescent Slash (Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenge!)
Level 32: Electrical Siphon (Rank 2, Challenge!)
    Level 35: Backhand Chop
    Level 38: Blinding Light
    Adv. Points: 36/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6: Athletics (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Strength: Swole (2/3)
    Strength: Physical Peak (3/3)
    Strength: Brutality (2/2)
    Strength: Juggernaut (3/3)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Elusive (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Sentinel: Torment (2/2)
    Sentinel: Sentinel Aura (3/3)
    Sentinel: Moment of Need (3/3)
    Sentinel: Wither (2/2)
    Mastery: Sentinel Mastery (1/1)

    Devices
    Slot 1: Terak Generator
    Slot 2: Primus Spark Shield

    DPS Role:
Stack END in your gear, and +Crit mods. Use Terak Generator to apply Superconductor to a boss, then Ball Lightning to keep it refreshed. Lightning Arc as your main attack, with Electrical Current for an AoE (the Challenge shouldn't be a big deal against regular mobs). Blinding Light for a threat wipe against Eidolon/Therakiel's Temple/Grond in Teleios Ascendant/when a tank has low threat.

    Tank Role:
Stack CON in your gear, and Confront mods. Lumi Slash charge-spam, with Electrical Siphon every 10 seconds for the secondary Challenge. Keep Ball Lightning rolling to feed Ionic Reverberation. Power Source will only provide half its value to Lumi Slash; but with high-rank Confronts, Onslaught Gloves of the Defender, and keeping primary/secondary Challenge active, you should be generating enough threat to hold agro against DPSers. Backhand Chop to interrupt dogs at Kigatilik.

    Mob Tanking/Offtanking:
Electrical Current to apply Challenge over a broad area, with Sentinel Mastery keeping you healthy. An extra defense-slot gear piece with a Devious Shield mod(s) is handy, but not required. If your health is slowly chipping away when offtank-blocking Teleios Ascendant or a Warzone open mission, you can fire Ball Lightning into your herd, give it a few seconds to roll Negative Ions, then Electrical Siphon for a heal.

The block could be anything; I just opted for the lightsaber theme. Either spec tree could be swapped for Protector/Vindicator/Guardian, depending on your preference. If you choose to drop Sentinel, I'd recommend Rank 3 Electrical Current. You could swap Electrical Siphon for Sparkstorm and juggle some advantage points to get Electric Personality, if you prefer.

I personally am not familiar with end stack builds for dps, are they as good as the common dex/ego or even str/int stacks builds? Sorry for the old fart noob question heheheh.

And about the powers, the selection is dope BUT, as they are mostly ranged atks (except lumi), in dps role I would be ranged while in tank mode is when I would use lumi in the rotation combo as main atk right? Just checkin if I got this amazing concept worthy the test drive for sure =D

And at last but not least, my main concern is the capability of keep holdin threat against ultra dpsers and other tanks (coz I know some sets and rotations can surpass other sets/rotation threats gen considering same confront ranks btw the tanks or even at lower ranks some can even hold aggro from higher rank ones)

I love to tank and wanna stay OP at it while don't suckin at dps either when needed. (I usually stay at top 3 to 5 in dps rolebduring comics -as tk blades or bcf dual role tank- so with the elec and an end based setup this still possible? Tho Idc about score im just pointing how good it were in dps role hehehe)

An END-stacked setup is only really used when running the Power Source toggle form. EGO and DEX setups do have an edge in damage output, and you lose a bit more with the STR primary for ranged (compared again to EGO/DEX); but the difference shouldn't be too severe. If you're concerned about your dps-role damage output, I'd recommend Guardian/Vindicator spec trees, and going with Rank 3 Electrical Current. You lose some self-healing from Sentinel Mastery, but pick up more damage.

Ranged sets usually have lower damage output than melee (though Power Armor can match some melee sets). So if there's a lot of melee heavy hitters at a Cosmic, you might find yourself under them on the scoreboard. Gear and mods are also important, as is gameplay. There's a lot of variables to consider, but you'll likely have less damage output than your BCF and TK Blades builds. One advantage of an electric dps is that it can operate at 100 feet with Ball Lightning and Lightning Arc. This can pad your score at Teleiosaurus, since you can usually stand beyond the baby's AoE range.

For tanking, Lumi Slash (like a lot of post-rework Tier 3 melee attacks) is a very strong damage power. I chose to shave off some potential damage increases (like End Of The Line, a Particle debuff, or a Plasma Burn stack/refresh), so damage will be a bit less than setups designed for those. You'll also lose a bit more damage by running a ranged toggle. But with decent gear, you shouldn't have any trouble holding threat against heavy DPSers. Reapplying secondary Challenge right when it expires (every 10 seconds) is also important.

Overall, I'd consider the build to be effective in both roles for endgame content. But like any multi-role build, it has to make some compromises compared to a single-role specialist; moreso when mixing a ranged set with a melee set.

If you can access the test server and parser, I'd recommend comparing dps dummy tests against your other successful builds, to see whether you consider the sacrifices to be within reason.
