Character updating this week.

I seem to be posting alot but I do have a lot of level 40s, they all exist and what I don't have is the broad knowledge of character building. All the alts are screwed and I am on a weekly purge on getting them better, I will try to solve some for myself based on feedback but this one I am stuck on. I do damage with this solo ,much and I do heal people in teams, I noticed compassion builds on healing, but I have been in that any role, rather than picking a role like hybrid or support. Not sure where this fits it is a knock off of a guide somewhere or a take from a silver AT, ten years ago. Over the years I just played, pets dealing dps while I heal. Is it an eyesore? Do I go 600 on presence?

    AoAC was taken for the support passive to reduce cd timers and charge times, but you can ofc take a different support passive instead (AoPM, AoRP, AoED, Med Nanites, Seraphim), if you want to boost other things.

    The build has many cds it can juggle, but they all help provide support and some utility (like debuffs and CC). MLeech can apply some background healing w/ Dependency, which charged Mind Break can also consume for a burst of healing (Mind Break can also just be used as a basic nuke here). Sleep and MStorm can apply holds that put up debuffs like Vuln, Wither, Trapped, and Sentinel Mastery (tap them if you want to quickly apply debuffs to a target, and charge them if you want their charge-related perks). Ego Storm can also AoE and hold nearby enemies when activated (you could maybe change that for Ego Sprites, if you wanted a non-cd pbAoE, though it won't apply holds).

    Since it's a Support unit, I gave you ally & self rezes as well, and Psionic Healing can be your basic, long-ranged ally heal. If you want a higher-hps heal, you can also consider switching Psionic Healing to Iniquity in Celestial, but since that may not be thematic enough I'll leave that choice up to you. You can also opt to switch to the Hybrid role when out solo, for more base dps. Gears mostly for Pres, w/ some Con and Int.

    I've tried out your build, it is better for teams, better for endgame, almost equal for soloing purposes (I might just need more practice with it) so yeah it is overall better. I enjoyed it very much.

    The thing is I would miss the old build/conceptually. There was only 4 out of 15 powers kept. My build posted provides alot of distraction, in the battlestation testing facility on hardest and 5 man team setting I solo it and I don't really see my healthbar move but your build is better to have for the harder game content like TT and for teams. Solo, both are equally enjoyable. I'm either going to change completely or make a new character based on your build as it is different to all my other characters and I kind of collect concepts. I like jumping on different toons and specializing in different things. You can take the 2 psionic choices telepathy or telekinesis and make lots of different characters that play differently or survive differently which is how some people end up with 80 characters.

    It is a definite improvement with your suggestions but I might miss using distractions. I am trying to think up a name now. Thanks for your help.

    Yeah, it's also fine if you feel compelled to make it a new character entirely. I wouldn't normally make a pet-based build, since pets have issues in some content, but then again the only real pet TP has is Summon Nightmare (Collective Will is more of a separate entity that won't be affected by heals/auras), so you could also stick them in my build if you like having them around sometimes. You'd obv have to give up a power slot for it, but it's an option you could consider as well.

    For your original build, I'd prob still tweak it even if I were to keep most of the powers, since you have a unranked dps passive (Ego Form), and I'd prob pass on MotM as an Ult. I prob would also drop one of either Empathic or Psionic Healing, since they are somewhat redundant. The build could also use an EU, like TP Reverb. Here's one way to edit to it:

    I wasn't quite sure what the original role/aim of the build was, so I gave it the universalist support passive in AoPM (ofc, that could be changed to something else). Also gave you an ally res, in case you wanted to have more support in groups. Some of the other powers could also be changed, but either way it gears mostly for Pres, w/ some Con (AoPM will boost all stats as well, if you keep it).

    I took that last suggestion to test server, played with it, worked out that I needed more sigils for distraction and because that meant less recharg I strengthened the ego sleep and it worked out. I swapped the heal for the stronger one and put in an aoe. Still not finished testing as a self res would be nice but its paying off with the AoPM and I am practically there. It's distract and sleep, not as good in teams as your first suggestion which I will make a character for but there is over 600 pre on AoPM, thanks so far for your help

    Yea, sigils are still immobile and can be destroyed, which is why I don't suggest them often, but they can still provide some use in certain content. A self-res could be nice too, if you think you'd get some mileage out of it, though you can also get devices the res you- so it's up to you on what to put in the final build. You can also leave the powers/advs that you are most unsure about to be trained last, so if you change your mind later then it won't be as expensive to re-train them.

    I enjoy reading these posts as well. It is very kind of you (Not JUST Flow of course, he just seems to be the most prolific) ;P and I get a lot of ideas from these.

    Speaking of ideas, how would you tweak that last posted build as a DPS version? (SOme healing OK, but primary would be dmg) I like pets and summons, (they not always optimal, but still fun) and I like the sprites, collective will, nightmare, etc in that build.
    (If it helps, the concept would be along the lines of a yellow ring wielder from DC, although I'm also looking at a darkness based build for that idea ) :)

    It's personal dps won't be as high as others, but it will buff ally dmg well w/ all the spec-related debuffs (Vuln, Wither, Trapped, Sent Mastery) and have solid healing (for a dps unit). You basically just cycle between using of the cd-related attacks (Sleep, MLeech, MStorm) and tapping Ego Blast as basic filler. 2x Sprites can be thrown in for extra AoE dmg, and you can also throw in the Nightmares for extra background dmg (and distraction). If you want more AoE CC power then you can charge Sleep and MStorm, while tapping them is better for quickly getting debuffs up on a single target. Gears mostly for Dex, w/ some Con and Pres (and w/ some cost discount on gear).

    I wouldn't consider Collective Will to be that worthwhile here, since you already have access to Stress w/ MStorm, and the build is already pretty busy as is, but you can add them in if you wish. Again, keep in mind that Collective Will and Sprites aren't technically pets either.

    From curiosity, why Eldritch shield on the DPS (ish) build? Instead of TK shield?
    Is there a benefit to it over another that I'm not seeing at first glance? (Entirely possible, as much as I like this game, I'm still no powers-matching expert) :) Thx! (Again!)

    TK Shield is alright too. I went w/ Eld Shield cause many AoE attacks that dps'ers soak in group settings (w/ proper tanks) are non-Physical, whereas TK Shield is better suited to tanks and solo'ers that eat a lot of direct, basic attacks (which are often Physical). You could prob pick any ranked block enhancer, though, since all of them (outside of Fluidity, generally) do the same basic thing of upgrading the dmgRes on your block.

    Cool, Just wondered if there was something I was missing.
    I would move to TK shield, but w/ the lingering adv being 3 pts now,... not with this toon anyway. ;P

    Yea, the 3-pt adv is def harder to justify now. TK Shield is still pretty good for the higher Physical dmgRes, though, even w/o taking the special adv.

    Yeah they nerfed that cost WAY more than they should have. Now its just OP (Over Priced) ;P

    Still, have to love lingering advantages/force and TK shields! :)
