D2 Fire Sorceress Build Help

vonqballvonqball Posts: 706 Arc User
So, I'm making a Diablo 2 fire sorcereress. There are a bunch of powers in the fire set that fit the theme perfectly. Namely hydra, meteor, and fireball. But incinerate is a bit off-theme for her. I was wondering how much dps I give up by dropping that power, and what is the best rotation for a non-incinerator to use?

I would also be open to throwing in some lightning and/or ice powers, but am not particulary fussed either way. I currently am still leveling up.

I've chosen to go with Ego/Dex/End and am stacking ego.

The goal is to make a solid dps that (more-or-less) fits the theme.

Thanks for any input in advance. :)

I may just use Fireball then. Won't be as high single-target dps as Incinerate, but you do get some nice burst dmg w/ Fireball and you'll have good splash AoE potential. Example build for it:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Ranged Damage)

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Ego (Primary)
    Level 10: Endurance (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Level 1: The Scourge (Con: 10, Ego: 10, Rec: 10, End: 8)
    Level 6: Daredevil (Ego: 5, End: 5)
    Level 9: Worldly (Ego: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 18: Ascetic (Con: 5, Ego: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Level 1: Throw Fire
Level 1: Fiery Form (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 6: Thermal Reverberation
    Level 8: Chilled Form
    Level 11: Fireball (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 14: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 17: Conflagration (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Fire Snake (Rank 2, Trail Blazer)
    Level 23: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 26: Flashfire (Fan the Flames)
    Level 29: Hydra (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 32: Fire Shield (Rank 2)
    Level 35:
Level 38: Meteor Blaze (Rank 2)
    Adv. Points: 33/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Ego: Force of Will (2/2)
    Ego: Insight (3/3)
    Ego: Follow Through (3/3)
    Ego: Sixth Sense (2/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (3/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (2/3)
    Mastery: Ego Mastery (1/1)

(not a early leveling build, ofc)

Keeps Firesnake, Flashfire, and Hydra up while using charged Fireball as the main filler. The main AoE can be Conflag (or Firebreath's wider cone, or Pyre's wide pbAoE, if you prefer). The open power slot can be w/e ya want. Gears mostly for Ego, w/ some Con and End.

    Thank you Flow.

I see you took guardian over avenger. I get that avenger mastery doesn't work with firestrike, So, overall not worth going pre-emptive with the damage boosting adv on firestrike vs guardian's find the mark and other buffs?

I just quickly tested them out in the PTS. Made a partial build w/ all the relevant powers (don't have Hydra, so I skipped that) + stats, specs, and gear. Only changed Guardian and Avenger specs, and the rotation for Avenger to accommodate Firestrike and Preemptive:

    Guardicator w/ Fireball only:
    (3164.41 dps)

Avenger + Vind w/ Fire Strike -> Fireball:
    (3370.56 dps)

Avenger + Vind w/ Fireball only (no PStrike use):
    (3139.52 dps)

Seems to be a small dps increase for Avenger + PS, though the rotation is a bit messy when you're also adding all the other attacks into the mix, so it's easier to mess up (I had a few double-taps of Firestrike in there, but not a huge deal). Ofc, you also have to add another power slot for Firestrike, and I used R3 of it- since the Kindling adv's dmg bonus is affected by the normal DR. I think energy was also a bit easier on the Firestrike build, though I didn't really encounter energy issues in any of my tests.

Ofc this was only partial/limited testing, so ymmv- but hope that helps some.
