Trying to build an Unarmed tank

slowecsl4pweslowecsl4pwe Posts: 221 Arc User
Hi,

I have been in the process of leveling this character for a while, but I seem to be ever changing the powers and SS's due to framework changes and second guessing. I wanted to create an unarmed superhero tank, think Supergirl, that could stand her ground and still give a good beatdown.

The last option I tried was a dual passive, which I have since scrapped, so I'm back to the drawing board again. She is currently sitting around level 25, I did want to work in Eye Beams for theme, but mainly it's a punching and taking punishment build I'm looking for with a single passive.

Here is my 2019 rebuild attempt, any help would be appreciated as tanking is not usually my thing. :)

Eye Beams will be pretty bad here, since its a single PA slot that will lockout all other powers when used, and it won't proc Enrage anyways. If taking it just for show, then maybe make it the last thing trained, and don't devote any adv points to it.

Anyways, you said 'unarmed', but I guess you meant Might and not the MA powerset? Most of the powers are from Might (save for Eye Beams and Dragon Uppercut- the latter you don't need w/ Haymaker and Demolish around). Here's a basic Might tank to tweak:

Level 9: Physical Conditioning (Str: 5, Con: 5)

    Specializations
    Strength: Swole (3/3)
    Strength: Physical Peak (2/3)
    Strength: Brutality (2/2)
    Strength: Juggernaut (3/3)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Elusive (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Protector: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Protector: Bulwark (2/2)
    Protector: Defensive Expertise (3/3)
    Protector: Resolute (2/3)
    Mastery: Protector Mastery (1/1)

Defense Combo is there to hit if you want snap aggro and/or to refresh Defiance if you're not getting hit (ie. not something you should need ideally, but more as a backup). Havoc Stomp and Demolish can be your main attacks vs. trash, and Haymaker is the main boss killer. Gears mostly for Con, w/ some Str.

Personally i would use uppercut for tanking since it does xtra damage to targets that cant be knocked at r3.

Knock-immune bonuses will also work at the other ranks. Anyways, Haymaker does that too (one of its best attributes vs. bosses is the large knock-immune dmg bonus you get for charging it). Demolish is also good to keep in case you want it for trash and/or to put up Demolish's debuff for Haymaker. Uppercut could work vs trash too, but I'd rather also have the debuff.

Note that if you have invisible weapons as an option you can get some service out of Heavy Weapons powers. E.g. Eruption w/Magma Burst (looks like a wide swinging upper cut) instead of Defensive Combo and Thermal Reverberation instead of MSA.

You may find that between energy from Enrage and Defiance and suitable endgame gear for cost reduction you can take Dex instead of End as a SSS (i.e. just take some End in your Talents). That will help with crits. OTOH, maybe you will need an energy stat and have to leave off Dex. Experience will tell.
