Welcome, this thread will "hopefully" be a resource for players to understand what Bite! is and how it works. Bite! is a PvP battleground within the open world in which players can participate in fighting one another by joining either the Hunter side or the Lycan side. Bite! is available in the Canada at Great Bear Lake or in the Desert between Atomic Wasteland and Snake Gulch. To join Bite!, you must talk to the leader of whichever side you wish to join and accept their quests. Once you join a side you cannot access the other until you drop or complete the PvP mission.

NOTE: Currently, players who turn in the PvP mission before completing the NPC mission will be unable to make further progress on it. The talisman you gain is linked to the PvP quest, so do not turn anything in until you have both of them completed.

Team up with your fellow Hunters/Lycans to share credit for your quests. Bite! is a team effort, so don't try to go in alone!

Both sides have unique abilities that allow them to become more dangerous as a fight goes on and can be used in ways to overcome their opposition.

How to play as Hunter
Aric Roston Rhodes will provide you a Sol Talisman which allows you access to the Hunters. As a hunter, you have access to defensive and ambush tactics via passive Stealth. Your first ability allows you to attack with dual swords or a pistol depending on your range, dealing consistent damage to your target. This should be your main form of attack while all further moves should be used either to set up further attacks or to defend yourself and fellow hunters. The first ability grants Virtuous, unlocking your two next abilities.

The Hunter's second ability sweeps their dual swords around them, knocking away hostile Lycans and providing some breathing room for further attacks or a possible retreat. This move is useful as it puts some distance between you and a hungry pack, making it harder for them to continue their own hunt against you.

The Hunter's third ability throws a net at a single Lycan. This traps Lycans where they stand, allowing for ambushes to bring the beast down before they can do too much damage. It can also be used to "peel" Lycans off of retreating Hunters, giving enough time for an escape to succeed.

The net and sweeping blades both consume Virtuous, revoking access to those abilities but make the Hunter Resolute, opening up their last set of abilities.

The Hunter's fourth ability is a silver bullet accessed when they are Resolute. It is a finishing move which deals additional damage to Lycans below 25% health. It can be fired at range to finish off escaping Lycans and should be used as such. It won't do much more good than the standard ranged attack Hunters have initially if used prematurely.

The fifth ability Hunters have access to while Resolute is holy water. They throw it outward, coating the Lycans. It deals damage over time and slows down the Lycans' movement. Use this to help weaken Lycans before bringing them down with a decisive blow.

The last ability Hunters have is their Shield of Faith. Using this, Hunters will channel their faith, protecting themselves from damage. Hunters can't do anything else while using this ability, so it is recommended to use this as a last ditch effort for survival during an ambush and hope that fellow Hunters come to your rescue.

How to play as Lycan
Claude Baine will give you a Talbot's Talisman to join his pack of Lycans. Lycans play ferociously and look to exploit the weaknesses of the Hunters. Lycans should consider running in packs, but are more than capable of getting the jump on a hunter on their own with their passive speed and mobility. The Lycan's first attack swipes their claws at their target, bleeding them. The more this ability is used, the faster it becomes as the Lycan's Rage grows. This effectively shreds hunters who don't retaliate.

The Lycans second ability allows them to bite Hunters. Bleeding Hunters grant the Lycan healing when being bitten. The bite also builds the Lycan's Rage. Overall, good to sustain the Lycan in combat.

The third ability Lycans have allows them to pounce on Hunters. This not only closes the distance, but also builds their Rage and allows the Lycans to break free of any movement impairing abilities the Hunters have such as their Net. Use this to continue the chase on escaping hunters in order to finish them off.

Lycan's fourth ability lets them howl, increasing the damage output of nearby packmates and increasing the Lycan's Rage. Lycan groups should use this often to allow for even more fierce and deadly rushdown tactics.

The fifth ability swipes the Lycan's claws as a combo. This ability attacks faster and deals more damage based on how much Rage the Lycan has. It is actually worse than the Lycan's first ability when trying to use it without Rage, but once built up can be a quick way to shred through Hunters.

The final ability Lycans have allows them to swipe downward with a heavy claw, knocking down the Hunter. Depending on how much Rage the Lycan has, this swipe also holds the Hunter in place, preventing them from escaping while you maul them. You can use this in conjunction with the pounce to lock a single hunter down and deal significant damage to them, forcing them to retreat or be slaughtered.

Disclaimer: This is more of a quick reference for the time being. I may or may not do more formatting to make this thread look pretty, but until that time comes around have fun playing Bite!

Good guide! A clarification on the wolves mechanic though, there are 2 different mechanics at play.

First the most straightforward is Howl. It stacks up to 8 times and grants you a damage boost, BUT each stack increases your size making you stand out more. Smart hunters will know to prioritize taking you down at max stacks, so it's best to juggle around 3-4 stacks.

The second mechanic is the Rage mechanic, which stacks up to 3 times. You gain 1 stack of Rage for performing the following actions: Claw attack, Bite, Pounce, Howl. Rage increases your damage and attack speed.

Massacre, the number 5 skill, becomes really good to use on a knocked opponent at 3 stacks.

Likewise the number 6 skill becomes a guaranteed knock at 3 stacks.

So a good combo for wolves would be to Pounce->Slash till 3 stacks->6->5 spam.

For hunters, a good strategy to peel wolves away from the pack is to go invisible, go behind their back, and use the number 2 skill to knock them towards your hunter friends

    YES! This please!

This is such a soloer game that even though it helps the BITE missions immensely to team up and put in a little teamwork (HAH in CO???), most people just seem to run off randomly. Team Up! Stay in close proximity! Follow the leader! Your mission will go much smoother and quicker.
