The Burning Champion - Heavy Weapons build

spinnytopspinnytop Posts: 16,450 Arc User
Heavy Weapons using Unstoppable and paired with Absorb Heat is just good old fashioned brute force. Good build for people who don't like to move around too much once the fight starts and really just want to smack the hell out of everything in sight. With the sheer amount of 360 degree aoe HW has it is truly the lazy man's melee set. Also it's a Wardicator build, just to nail home the fact that Wardicator can still be used to solo the warzone! \o/

Some of you might recognize this as the toon I did the "ermagerd QWZ speedrun" video with. Their build has changed a bit since then. If you want the build to be more like it was back then, then you could swap Viscious Decent and Thunderclap out for Masterful Dodge and Resurgence. If you wanna go even more AD-EZMode, swap Conviction for Unbreakable.

Really liking this build - still not approaching your skill level with it though. What are your thoughts on Pyre being snuck in there? Particularly with the knock down? I've been looking at that instead of Thunder Clap for some more energy and burny theme.

Thunder Clap is a bit of an "extra power" that the build works fine without, so you could easily replace it without any real risk. An aoe knockdown like pyre would be useful. A downside is that with this build it's redundant and you'll be building KDresist even faster, but an upside is that if a group you're fighting has some spread out npcs the range will help you interrupt them. I say go for it.

Hey, spinny, what's the stat breakdown on equipment for this? Mostly ego? Mostly str?

Entirely Strength. Strack Strength all day.

    Hi,
I was wondering why EGO on the build since most of the powers are Melee attacks? Why not Primary STR, with CON and END for energy return on Thermal Reverberation, since you advise to Stack Strength? I'm looking forward to trying it out.

    Thanks

Since posting this I have switched to Strength Primary, so you can certainly go that route as well. Ego gives differing amounts of crit/severity, and gives Defense where Strength will give hit points. I went Str dex/rec tho. Thermal Reverb is just there for a bit of extra energy, so you don't really need to invest in it.

So now that you have taken the Str route how would you change your specializations for that PSS?

as str dex/rec I am using:
    Swole 3
    Physical Peak 2
    Brutality 2
    Overpower 2

*David Attenborough voice* And here we get a rare glimpse at the mating ritual of the forum troll. The dominant troll's impressive build display seems to have attracted the interest of a potential suitor....

Spinny..when inwas reading the absorb heat heal..it reminded me of a build ive been "trying" to make. How would u go about making a paladin(dps)/healer or paladin(off tank )/healer..more in the style of like world of warcraft.

I would make them a paladin that uses holy fire to both battle and heal... and then use the build I made in this thread o3o

Ummmm... could do something with Vala's light or something... you should start a separate thread for this and get ideas from multiple people, you'll end up with better results o3o

Hello! The Inferno and The Unleashed are Archetypes that are focused on dealing damage (dps), so you shouldn't have low damage when using them. If you do have low damage with them, then there is probably something wrong with your build or with your equipment (or perhaps you are dying too often on those characters, which is also a problem that can be fixed).

I don't think that you should buy a Freeform slot until you have some more experience. If you can make your two Archetypes perform better, then that can help you gain more experience and knowledge as well. You can use that knowledge to make a more informed decision about buying something in the future.

Perhaps we could help you with your Archetypes, but since this is not my thread (and it is a bit off-topic) I'll leave it to Spinny to decide how to proceed.
