Future soldier build help

I'm aiming for a ranged dmg with lots o crits for a level 40 toon. Any suggestions are welcome.

It looks okay, though its a bit redundant to have Exp Burst Ray and Sonic Boom Generator (you could replace one of them w/ another cd attack for MSA), and I'd get Conviction to R3 (can take a rank from Evasive Maneuvers). I'd prob also get at least R2 of the block.

Dex PSS is okay, though you could go w/ Ego or Int PSS and still do well. I'd also change Quick Reflexes for Expose Weakness, if keeping Dex PSS (and also swap Power Swell for Gear Utilization). Guardian could also be a decent spec option (the nerfs affected the TBD + AS loop from Guardicator, but also the RA + AS combo from Avenger + Vind- though neither are that big).

The problem with this build and going all out for criticals is that you'll die as soon as anyone sneezes at you, because your build is low on defence and high on Maintained attacks. Fine if you've got a team and an on-point healer, not too useful if not. To stack DEX and have an effective defence to allow you to keep attacking without dying, you'd need to look at boosting your dodge abilities through Specialisations and maybe adding Masterful Dodge as an AD.

Personally.... I have a pistols build very similar to this in theme. She is EGO/INT/CON with a smidge of REC gear, and Quantum Stabiliser as a passive, which boosts energy damage and also gives an overall Damage Reduction boost, with a high boost to Particle Damage DR (useful against VIPER). EGO primary gives me Force of Will (more defense) and more damage for each stack of Concentration, so it feels like a better mix of damage and durability. I like Sonic Device as an AoE stun and to keep MSA going, and if you're not going down the Dodge route then Invulnerability is a good AD - you can heal yourself plenty with Conviction and devices in the window it gives you.

I wouldn't get the Dex PSS dodge spec choices; they are rather weak and come at the large cost of skipping EW and DA. If he wants a bit more health, he can always go w/ something like a DEX/Int/Con, INT/Dex/Con, or EGO/Int/Con setup.

You could consider taking 3/3 in 6th Sense can gearing mostly for Int (still keeping Ego PSS ofc). I may also trade R2 Unbreakable for R2 Resurgence, but its up to you. Targeting Computer would also give you more sustained dps here than Quantum Stabilizer, though the latter does lean a bit more on the defensive side.
