The Monk - Unarmed Build

Unarmed is really cool cause it has all these neat stuns and knocks and pbaoes that allows you to dive into the middle of a group and just become a whirling buttstorm of burst damage and disabling attacks. It actually feels just like being Jackie Chan in one of his movies! \o/

Fun facts:
- Dragon Kick lets you stack out of combat while running around, so start every fight fully stacked \o/
- With the Righetous Fury advantage BCF stacks Form of the Master with anything but a full charge, so tap it if you need to keep your form from falling off or need a burst of energy
- If Shadow Strike is on cooldown, run up all stealthy to something and hit it with an Elbow Slam -> BCF combo, works similarly well!
- For enemy groups where they have Aura of Clarity, you can still sneak up to them by using Teleport while in stealth, Teleport's stealth will stack and doesn't disappear immediately after you come out of it, so you'll have time to get a hit in.​​

I have to say that I do like the BCF/RF + Dragon Kick paring. Its quite more interesting than Shuriken Storm, at least.

Did you mean to pick Brawler Mastery, though? Str Mastery is prob the best of the three w/ those specs- esp if taking 3/3 Overpower. Pretty neat build, regardless.

No, Strength Mastery doesn't really impress me. Brawler Mastery means my next attack after Elbow Drop does 15% more base damage, and with how meaty my attacks are that's something I can work with.

Really cool build!

Personally, I like a more lazy playstyle balanced approach... so if I would add an AD, what it would be? Masterful Dodge? Ressurgence? Here's an attempt:



Also, is WotW okay instead of NW?

WotW is fine, but you'll be giving up Shadow Strike. Masterful Dodge should cover you for the start of the fight, so long as you get enough stuff killed before it runs out. Only issue is that you'll be finishing fights so quickly that you won't have Masterful Dodge ready for the start of the next one, so you'll either have to wait between fights, or figure out a way to open the fight without it in a way that quickly gets rid of the most dangerous enemies while not dying yourself.

The two AOs are in the build just because it didn't really need anything else so I had two loose slots to fill, so if you wanted to add other things to the build those would be what to replace for sure. The build still does some odd 8k dps without them.

Hmmm... for Talents could be better use SS+END/CON as last slots or get further Str/Dex/Rec with the +8 ones?

Dex+end/con/rec/str/int and then +8 dex is what I went with

So full Dex yo get more bonus... interesting choice.

The build runs smooth and hits hard, but is made of glass, every mob (normal ones) can hit you from 1,2k damage to up so you need to very very very careful while you fight

How do you stay alive? I took this out into the ptr and it was very hard to survive anything over easy 1. Its probably just my play-style that doesn't match up with the build.

I have been told that the ptr battlestation, being mostly without gear as it is, doesn't give a very good view of a build. That might contribute. Might need some more serious gear to get in synch with this build.

I am still looking for an unarmed build that can solo QWZ, I am probably the limiting factor.

Well the build has very low mitigation and hit points, so the idea is to use stuns and knocks to keep NPCs from actually being able to attack you. You should be shredding the powerhouse mobs to bits. What's your strategy? Like how are you starting the fight, and what's the order of attacks you're using?​​

No worries. I see where I got off the track. Its definitely my play style and not the build at all. I am more of a stand and swing sort of fellow. I play mostly invul or unstoppable type sturdies. I can see where one would need to work this totally differently, open from stealth, rotate through stuns and heals, etc... It's just the way I approached it.

Even though it may not be for me, thanks much for providing the builds. It always great to see how other people get into the game.

Any tips or updates with the new changes? I've been having such fun with the build but now it's a lot more challenging with the 90sec cooldown.

Not sure why that would effect this build since it doesn't use Active Defenses. Ice Sheath is definitely getting switched out but you could really go with a lot of things there.
