Infernal Chains Build Improvement

blazer2001blazer2001 Posts: 109 Arc User
Hi there!

I've just returned to this old build I made of infernal using the chain powers from the set, I would like to know how to make it pack a bit more damage for enemies, defensively the build is good enough, but it's damage values aren't that big, I would also like to know how good this one would be for end game content, or what kind of changes it could get to improve for it, thank you!

Chain powers aren't that great for dps, so I wouldn't expect too much there if you make your build centered around them. That said, you can generally improve dps by using the ranged dps role and an offensive passive, as the hybrid-dps + defensive passive route comes w/ quite less dmg bonuses overall. Also, Con PSS is more for tanking, and is not good for boosting dps.

If you don't want to go the full glass cannon route, you can still be pretty sturdy in the dps role just having good defensive and healing powers, and keeping things like a Guardicator backbone + Con SS. An example of that:

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Ego (Primary)
    Level 10: Endurance (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Scourge (Con: 10, Ego: 10, Rec: 10, End: 8)
    Level 6: Ascetic (Con: 5, Ego: 5)
Level 9: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)
    Level 12: Daredevil (Ego: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 18: Worldly (Ego: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 21: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Infernal Bolts (advantages)
    Level 1: Lash (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 6: Pestilence (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 8: Supernatural Power
Level 11: Aspect of the Infernal (advantages)
    Level 14: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 17: Will-o'-the-Wisp (Guide, Ghost Fire)
Level 20: Vicious Cyclone (Rank 2, Vortex Technique)
    Level 23: Resurgence (Rank 2)

Level 29: Voodoo Doll (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 32: Imbue (advantages)
Level 35: Toxic Nanites (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 38: Rebirth (advantages)
    Adv. Points: 34/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Ego: Force of Will (2/2)
    Ego: Insight (3/3)
    Ego: Follow Through (3/3)
    Ego: Sixth Sense (2/3)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (2/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Ego Mastery (1/1)

Lash is your main filler attack for bosses, so getting it to R3 is good, as you can get Debilitating Poison via other means (here, via Wisp). Vile Lariat is more for giving you extra self-healing and Fester's debuff than for dps, but its ofc still useful for those things alone. Toxic Nanites and Imbue can also boost your dps a bit more. Gears mostly for Ego, w/ some Con (for maxHP) and End/Rec (for smooth Supernatural Power energy return).

I can definitely see a positive difference in damage output, all coming from the poison stacks, which is a good thing, I also can see the advantage the newer infernal powers give to the powerset, thank you @flowcyto :+1: .

  • Would a CC build work better with Chains? Lookin to homage the Great Pinhead.

Not hugely. There's Crippling Coils for a single-target hold, but the rest of the CC from chains are via knocks (lariats, iron chain, chain cyclones) and those aren't classed as hold-based CC for the purposes of Manip and such.
