Hello, I finally got another one of my characters to lvl 40. I have some Mercenary Gear, I have Read the End Game guide, but I'm not understanding it very well. SO, I have an old Electricity Build and I would like to know what can be changed to make it more viable to Endgame DPS content. I would also like Gear suggestions(i have some mercenary pieces, just not sure which ones to use), and mods that are recommended to put in them. I have a lot of mods I've collected, several I've made rank 7.

More optimal dps would be in things like replacing Con SS for Dex SS. maybe using a DEX/Ego/End_Rec setup w/ an Ego focus, using another AO and/or an ult, etc. A threat wipe that works at 100ft could also be valuable.
Basic rotation is: Put up NI w/ Ball Lit and/or Chain Lit, put up Superconductor w/ charged Chain Lit once NI is up, then just keeping channeling LArc while refreshing both debuffs w/ Ball Lit. You can use any of Elec's AoEs as your AoE dps filler- I took LStorm here but that's a bit more up to you. Gears mostly for Ego, w/ some Con and End/Rec.
I can't give many other specifics on gear other than you generally want crit and severity on offensive slots (unless you have a DUC as that takes first priority), maxHP and/or +Defense on defensive gear, and cost discount & cd reduction on utility gear (and if you can get the utility mod w/ +% Elec dmg, 'Right Eye of the Sapphire Dragon'- then go for that). Kamo's guide that you read should also have a bit more details on gear (in his 3rd post on it).

Defense Combo can be okay for snap threat and/or to refresh Defiance if not getting hit, but those are more dealing w/ non-ideal cases rather than using it as a staple attack here. You don't strictly need it, but imo it can be worth it as a fallback. Also Challenge on diff attacks depends and what you use them for. Challenge on Demolish is fine if you are sometimes opting not to use Haymaker due to its KB on trash. You can ditch them if you want and change the playstyle a touch to suit, but its not like those 1-2 extra adv points are a high priority by that point either.
And yea, ideally you play that in Tank role for groups, though I guess you could consider Hybrid role if you want a bit more dmg when out solo or w/e.
