adding all these items are fine and all BUT, they need to make the GOLD VOUCHER: special items drop alot more often than it does, countless keys & searching for weeks to buy one has come up with no results... hopefully there can be a way for them to give them a little higher drop rate?? or maybe give us the option to BUY the vouchers from ZEN STORE/QUESTIONITE STORE or even from DRIFTER...

Those special gold items aren't lockbox connected, are they?
They are supposed to be ultra-rare items, so increasing the special gold drop rate lowers their in-game value.
    No thanks.

Thanks for fixing that lore node, though.

Except most of the actual items they place in there aren’t worth the price of a Gold Special...

AF and Draysha and those 6 piece gears...

    Come on.

Hell....even the travels are an average 1k globals. I’ll blow through 60 keys (est 6k worth of global) and get zero Gold voucher and that’s not considering the Special that I have never gotten

    LOL "VALUE"
Does it also provides players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking Gold Foil items which are overpriced due to the lack of foils in the market?

Limiting Foils only in a 1 lockbox is a terrible design

Especially when that lockbox does not drop, anymore. It would be nice if it was always in the dropbox drop rotation. Could put it at a lower rate than the current themed lockbox.

I really, really want one of those gold foil special devices, like the one that can summon a goblin. Part of my desire is its rarity (and part is its usefulness). The rarity keeps me from simply getting this device half a dozen times, and equipping it to several characters, and that keeps the item a rarity in game, a little surprising to see, special.

Remember when dino pheromones were special and unusual? Now they are omnipresent and just meh.

-1 on principle. (but it still made me laugh)

Rarity for something you throw your wallet at is just a gambling tactic to get you to spend more money. Pheromones are still expensive and not every other person has them.

Yes, I'm still here. I like to at least torment the people on the forums even if I don't login as much.

Dino pheromones can be obtained easily by any player, just be saving up Gs and being determined not to spend on something else.

You can buy currency crates with your Gs, or just buy the item in the AH or using trade channel. Because it isn't a random drop, it isn't really rare anymore.

Games like Champions need rare things, whether from gamble-boxes, events, or bosses.

There are plenty of rare and unobtainable in this game...so rare that the game will probably shut down before even 1% of the dwindling population will ever have access to.

It gets to the point of...this is a game, and the point of the game is to play. When items are so rare and impossible to get to use for hopefully just one character (if that), you take away the fun and the ability to play the content.

So in the end...what is the point of making stuff not reasonable to obtain? Opening 200 lockboxes should have been enough to get three gold special vouchers...and god forbid I want another toon to have one.
  • markhawkmanmarkhawkman Posts: 4,916 Arc User
"reasonable" is defined based on how much you actually need it. When it 's something no one needs to use for anything ever?

Name 3. Not including those items that no longer drop after On Alert hit. 3 items that still drop or are available some other way that less than 1% of the population has.

Skeleton Boy action figure is one (it requires getting 10,000 player kills in Zombie Apocalypse; I believe 2 players ever have done that). Therakiel's Sword probably is. We have never confirmed that Destroyer's chair drops (from Eidolon), but if it does, it's also in the less than 1% category.

A: I don't give Spinny anything because he's been on ignore for over a year.

B: Pheromones were so rare, no one had them. Being a lockbox item saw them get improvements. People liking, wanting, and not having an awful time obtaining the dinos is why they have variety. I don't see why "rarity" of a digital item that can be copied on a whim is something I should care a whole lot about. CO isn't a loot grind game where item rarity would matter to the core game play. Even then, if you aren't having fun trying to get those items, then the game is simply using rarity to get people playing at all. And if it's a rare item in a lock box, then it's using rarity to get people into spending more money in a questionable way.

    @pwestolemyname

Plenty more but Panta has three. Happy? Or are you curious about the entire list of items? Hell, we just had an event where a AF was a super super rare drop...it’s up in AH for 15k.
  • pantagruel01pantagruel01 Posts: 7,091 Arc User
I wouldn't say plenty more, but my perspective might be distorted; I don't know where the 1% line really is.
  • roughbearmattachroughbearmattach Posts: 4,785 Arc User
I was only thinking of rare drops with a mechanical benefit.
I always forget about AFs, since I auction all of mine.
There are rare costume bits, but compared to the total number of possible drops/unlocks in the game, it is a tiny number.

Anyway, I suspect the devs' point of view on this is much closer to mine than to the folks who want the rarest items to become more common.

No, never said I want common.

I just don’t want pre-cosmic revamp Kiga rarity....did that the hard way and now look at his drop rate.

Does his lower drop rate now decrease or increase the content?
