Can Grond measure up to Qliphoth?

catstarstocatstarsto Posts: 1,129 Arc User
What if Grond managed to find himself in Qliphoth? Would he be able to stomp the underworld or get made short work of??

Courage is doing what is right even when it isn't popular or safe. Honor is retaining the dignity and virtue in one's self, so it can light the way for others in the darkest of times. Compassion is showing patience and mercy towards others, even when it isn't returned or deserved. A hero is defined by these 3 words, they set him apart from others as a beacon of hope and excellence.

Ok, let me put it another way... Hell no. For starters, entering Qlipthoth alone is lethal to any living creature. The entropic nature of the plane automatically sucks the life out of living beings. They've had to bend the facts of that dimension as much as they bent the reality that is Multifaria to meet up with the narrative they are writing here. In short, despte Grond's physical prowess, I doubt he would live longer than half an hour tops before the reality of Qlipthoth alone would destroy him.

Short answer no. Grond is only a Delta class threat. This makes him dangerous, in classification terms a threat to the US as it were, but not a global threat which is an Omega level threat. Shadow Destroyer is an Omega threat.

ok, but use your imagination...he grew big because of toxic sludge, what would happen if he where to tap one of those dark energy guysers? Wouldnt he end up like "Lucky" from SWTOR?

I'm imagining Grond trembling as his life force is sucked out of him by a cackling Eidelon, unable to fight back against something he can't even begin to understand. He might actually get corrupted and turned into a servant in the process of course. Qliphotic Grond is an interesting proposal.

The reason Grond is only a delta class threat, is becuase of his ambitions, which basically amount to "GROND SMASH". He'd easily be an omega level threat given his level of power if he actually wanted to conquer the world.

However, as its described in the lore, the Qlipthoth isn't something which can be "Defeated" or stopped. If you go there you get corrupted or die or whatever. It's something which you can only try and prevent from taking over other realms, if it gets a foothold you're doomed.

CO doesn't do Qliphthoth right at all, even shadow destroyer could only tap its power indirectly with the help of his patrons.

Unless one of those bosses decided to use his body like Loki did in "Hulk vs Thor" cartoon.

They never let on that it was that powerful, in the Aftershock series not everyone turned, just the ones killed or targeted for possession.

I miss playing these with groups, they move along faster in teams, solo they get boring, they take too long.

Technically the realm you visit in aftershock isn't actually the real qlipthoth. also as I previously mentioned, CO doesn't portray it properly.

ah, ok. that makes sense then.

PnP stats-wise, Grond is a lot stronger physically than Shadow Destroyer, but SD has a wide variety of other powers which significantly surpass the raw destructiveness Grond is capable of. And that was before he became the Eidolon of Destruction.

As has been pointed out, the Qliphothic Warzone is not part of a true universe of the Qliphoth. In general, beings from our type of universe can't survive in the Qliphoth for long, at least not unchanged. However, there is precedent for extraordinary means to keep those detrimental effects at bay, at least temporarily.

But keep in mind, this is a comic-book world, and the first rule of a comic-book world is that any logical rationale which can advance a story can be made to work. :p Grond has already been radically mutated from his human origins by a process not completely understood. There's really no telling how being exposed to the Qliphoth would affect him. Officially all humans who have contacted the Qliphoth have been changed, but not all have died, or been cosmetically warped, and some gained super-powers. Even in those cases their sanity was fractured, but with Grond it might be hard to tell the difference. ;)

Yeah, if Grond went into Qliphoth the evidence is clear that he'd grow tentacles and ... probably behave about the way he does anyway.

so your saying Grond could be a dessert Culthuhu for champs, if he keeps mutating?
