    Realistically, the sabretooth tiger. While people have been emblazoned with the image of a velociraptor from the movies the likes of Jurassic Park, a real raptor was not that big. A real raptor was actually the size of a turkey, and in that area. So the raptor you see in the movie is not really a raptor and a real raptor would just be a snack for a sabretooth.

    The animal that is pictured in Jurassic Park is actually a Deinonychus, which is a raptor in a way, but much debate is over if they have feathers or not, which many of these types of dinosaurs are thought to have had. And while they are thought to have hunted in packs to bring down large prey, they were not some super intelligent animal that the movie portrays them as, more so just smart enough to work together to bring down larger prey.

    In the end I will give it to the sabretooth.

    It's true..the raptors in the movies they call velociraptors where not really velociraptors...and they were pack hunters. Big cats like the sabertooth do not hunt in packs as far as I am aware. So yeah, one on one I believe the cat would win.

    The creatures in the movie were Utahraptors. Velociraptors would indeed have been much smaller. No explanation for why the supposed expert on dinosaurs misidentified the creatures so badly.

    Under the heading of "science marches on", looks like your Utahraptor up there could use some feathers. Also a good explanation for why it's been separated from its flock (or "pack", if you insist, but "flock" would be more accurate). A flock of Utahraptors, or even velociraptors, would be more than a match for a lone Smilodon californicus.​​
