What would be the best build for a Water wielding Hero?

superalfgornsuperalfgorn Posts: 558 Arc User
Since we do not have a water powerset, and I doubt we will ever see one for a loong time, I was wondering how you could build to fake it.

I thought of the build below, but it does not seem overly inspired. Any ideas, along with suggestions for specific auras for the costume?

That's basically just a Force build; it's a good one, though.

Some other powersets have stuff that could look water-like if recolored: like Sorcery, Infernal SN, Fire (firesnake -> vaporsnake), Celestial, Mentalist, etc. Kinda depends how ya wanna manifest 'water', and/or how far ya wanna suspend ur disbelief.

Mmh I guess Conflagration might make it rain ...

Yeah, you are right I need to get an idea of what I would like as my approach to water. Honestly I'm thinking something like "mystical" water, but still in the liquid phase, no vapor or ice. Celestial might do (the energy builder for sure, perhaps Palliate).

I'm curious, what is there in sorcery that would fit?

To me, blue-tinted Pillar of Poz, Eld Blast, Hex, and Skarn's all can be watery- in more embellished way w/ the rune effects.

Ice obviously, since it is literally just hard water.

But beyond that, with ice, there's also a few telepathy powers that'd fit in, like Telekinetic Lance, Crushing Wave...

Force Choke works a treat underwater (i.e. in Lemuria) as a 'I am drowning you with water manipulation'.

What else... Hmm. You could probably make a case for the various 'beast' summons, since they all become sharks when underwater. Not really a 'water wielding' power, but it's handy for a water theme.

I've got a "water" tank who uses a mixture of Force, Mentalist, & Ice to create her "Water Powerset"... TK Assault has a lovely splash effect on the target that makes it seem like your firing off water darts at the target. Ego Sprites is great for a bubble spray sort of attack. Gravity Ripple, Crushing Wave, and TK Wave all work great for various current related attacks. Ice is pretty self explanitory being frozen water afterall, it's not unreasonable that someone who can control water might be capable of freezing it too... And ofcourse Protection Field and Containment Field are obvious choices for water themed shields and holds... of course Containment Field mechanically is a poor choice though...
