A character I really should have made a long time ago... but couldn't settle on a look or figure out just what powers she'd use...

PowerHouse   (Link to this build)

Name: Raighn

Archetype: Freeform

Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
Level 10: Intelligence (Secondary)
Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

Level 1: The Unleashed

Level 9: Survival Training
Level 12: Field Ops Training
Level 15: Coordinated
Level 18: Healthy Mind
Level 21: Acrobat

Powers:
Level 1: Rain of Steel
Level 1: Blade Tempest (Rank 2, Crashing Crescendo)
Level 6: Night Warrior (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 8: Dragon's Wrath (Rank 2, Tiger's Courage)

Level 35: Binding of Aratron (Tenable Bonds)
Level 38: Sigils of Ebon Weakness (Rank 2, Rank 3)

Travel Powers:
Level 6: Acrobatics
Level 35: Mystic Flight

Specializations:
Dexterity: Combat Training (3/3)
Dexterity: Power Swell (2/2)
Dexterity: Evasion (1/2)
Dexterity: Deadly Aim (1/3)
Dexterity: Expose Weakness (2/2)
Dexterity: Quick Reflexes (1/3)
Brawler: The Glory of Battle (3/3)
Brawler: Penetrating Strikes (2/2)
Brawler: Ruthless (2/2)
Brawler: Flanking (3/3)
Arbiter: Ruthless (2/2)
Arbiter: Arbiter Aura (3/3)
Arbiter: Rend (2/2)
Arbiter: Enhanced Gear (3/3)
Mastery: Arbiter Mastery (1/1)

Conceptually she's a dual baton wielding spell caster whose magic is a bit chaotic... her spells aren't very reliable for offensive purposes but do wonders for improving her own combat abilities while impeding her opponents (most of her "magic" is through her specs)... She's also gifted with an ability to conjure up illusions to aid her (Shadows & Nightmares)...

I'm aware that she'd probably get better benefit out of Warden/Vindicator or Guardian/Vindicator... but I've got far too many builds using that setup... I want to break away from the standard... plus Brawler/Arbiter seems to fit her style... Also, I am aware that the advantage on Eldritch Shield does me no good with Night Warrior as my passive unless a party member has a sorcery aura... but I'm actually ok with that, in fact I kinda wanted that... it fits her chaotic magic theme... So while in most groups her block will be pretty basic, she will occasionally get greater benefit.

    Interesting build, and pretty functional looking considering the theme limits. I think that R3 will provide you w/ slightly more dps on DW than the special adv (since the boost isn't fully multiplicative), but its perhaps worth testing.

    Also: Are you going to be spamming DW on bosses? Cause Setup can be a nice buff to DW if ur using Blade Tempest often enough (I assume so for Arbiter Mastery). The dodge/avoid options in Dex PSS are also a bit of a waste, imo, since ur giving up some nice crit severity for a small dodge/avoid boost that ya can't really depend on (I'm getting about 1.0-1.5% dodge and 3.0-3.5% avoid per point in them w/ ~300 Dex and R3 NW, and no extra dodge/avoid on gear- will be even less added w/ rating from gear).

    I guess than answers the question I asked in zone chat that I nevr got an answer to... it also seems to furthar highlight a problem with dodge/avoidance rating... I was hoping that I could get an atleast half reasonable bonus from them to help supliment her defense... but I guess not...

    I wasn't sure on Setup myself... opted for flanking for a more solid bonus to both attacks... though Setup might be better in the long run... as for DW's advantage... ideally I'll have a high enough crit chance that the bonus will be significant and boosted even furthar by actually critting more often than not...

    Glory of Battle in Brawler is pretty meh, imo. Doesn't have high uptime unless ur cleaving many targets w/ Tempest, and even then its adding about 1% crit and 1.5% Offense at 3pts on my ~300 Dex + 7.0% Offense toon whose sitting at about 34% char sheet crit (which is high for baseline crit, but still.. eh).

    Ok... so... I guess I should rearrage my specs like this?

    Looks a bit better, though I'm not sure you'll need Power Swell if ur not having much issue w/ energy to begin with. W/ Brush It Off seemingly not working, none of the T1 Dex PSS options are great, but mine as well get some in Gear Utilization.

    Arbiter Aura is also kinda weak, since its passive dmg in the earliest layer, but Enforcer isn't too great either, Honor won't proc from Arbiter Mastery or Conviction, Concussion is good only w/ spam-able stuns, and Preservation isn't need if ur not having energy issues.

    Question: Is Dragon's Wrath w/ Tiger's Courage actually "better" than Rank 3? Or are there circumstances where Rank 3 would be preferred?

    I haven't re-checked it in a while, but when I last parsed it on a 30%+ char sheet crit toon, Tiger's Courage was slightly behind R3 in overall dps. If TC's dmg bonus is in the severity layer, then it could depend a bit on how much offense and severity ya have already.

    Aqia broke it down a few times in there past. Here's one thread where some of the math comapring them was posted (see Aqia's reply):

    I'll have to do some testing on the PTS later tonite to see what it does with my build... I don't expect to have a high Offense due to DEX PSS and gearing for crits... So when I get home tonite I'll load my build up on the PTS and do some testing to see what sort of numbers I get with TC compared to R3.

    Honestly, I suspect my damage will most likely be higher with TC than with R3... but we'll see what happens...

    Ok... the test results are in...

    DEX = 442
    CON = 212
    INT = 209
    STR = 13
    Offense = 191.7 (7%)
    Crit % = 37.6
    Severity = 108.1%
    Role Bonus = 94%

    R2
    Tooltip - 1,062-2,263
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 2865 (2759) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 2959 (2849) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 6567 (6201) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 2831 (2750) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    R3
    Tooltip - 1,274-2,716
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 3377 (3380) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 6362 (6484) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 3130 (3039) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 7165 (6894) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    R2 w/TC
    Tooltip - 1,359-2,898
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 4046 (3896) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 6467 (6591) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 6327 (6087) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    [Combat (Self)] Your Dragon's Wrath deals 3469 (3338) Slashing Damage to Regenerating Test Dummy A.
    It looks like in a build that doesn't have Offense stacked through the roof via TBD+AS, TC is indeed better than R3...

    That's not a dps test, though. As you notice, the crit dmg in the small samples given are still higher for R3, cause TC doesn't multiply from severity.

    Did you run an ACT log and parse out the dps?

    If I can get my log working for CO again I'll maybe do some parsing later, but I can't guarantee I can match the build/stats. May just do 2 general sets- one w/ TBD/AS and severity specs/stats, and another w/o them.

    edit: After some attempts on the PTS, I can't get the parser to work w/ CO anymore, even after updating. I'll try wiping the program and installing fresh- prob devote some time to it tomorrow.
