Well, It's supposed to offer a choice between Burst Shot and Blade Tempest at level 6. It didn't in testing... it doesn't now. So it's a "pistols and swords" toon that currently doesn't give you any swords until level 14, and has been nerfed by the 2GM changes/rushed testing into having a distinctly sub-optimal low level power progression.
I'm just a little bit surprised that a feature item has been rushed out without actually being finished.

The pistols/sword choice should be working now. If it isn't, then please report it on the appropriate bug report forum.
2GM is now in-line with other similar progression choices. There are other threads discussing this in detail.
It does offer a choice between burst shot and blade tempest at level 1 like it's supposed to. Go to the PoHo and remove Burst Shot if you don't want it. I did because... I just don't like burst shot.

This is a common misconception... I'd argue 2gm is actually better now. The damage is still quite good... and it adds buffs to your that stack. Including a heal over time buff. You can pretty much build a later game build.. with 2gm as your only attack power.... other than your energy builder and it works amazing.
Makes me wonder how 2GM builds are made if energy cost is now prohibitely high, since the only AT with this power has no problems maintaining it full or repeating it again and again, and it gets by with no energy stats, only with a Munitions EU.
Seems like it should be much easier to balance energy consumption on a freeform toon.
And I'm asking because I'm surprised. Munitions powers never were hard to balance with their energy cost, especially not maintains.
2gm isn't better becuase of the absurd energy cost. Aside from that it's still decent but the cost HAS to COME DOWN.
Strange I was in a TA run with 3 2GM users, and all I saw while tanking was consistent and constant 2GM fire at the boss. If the energy cost is so prohibitive then how come people have managed it quite effectively?
With no ranged cost discount and on a melee build, 2gun is still cheaper than my laser sword. I would think actually investing in ego and/or ego pss for the range cost discount that scales better than the melee version, it should be fine to run 2gun.
Pretty sure with 400 ego the cost discount is around 40%. Concentration gives 50 energy every 4s, plus KI is probably another 50+ energy every 3 or 4s. Might not even need that much ego. Plus, there's cost discount on gear to use. I'm sure there are other ways, that's just the easiest one off the top of my head.
The specialist has two energy stats: ego and dex. Those powers just also happen to be the damage stats.
I tried it before they lowered the cost and with 260 ego and 1 pt in the cost reduct spec tree. Cost discount on utility gear.
Running with Night warrior, concentration and overdrive.I had no probs.

NO. Once you claim it, it is yours permanantly. However, if you delete that character at some point in the fuure, you may not be able to create another specialist for free, I'm not sure.
I believe this is basically a purchase for 0 Zen, meaning that the AT, once claimed, is yours. If I'm mistaken, I'm sure Arkayne will correct me.

This AT after "purchasing" ends in the same tab with other once claimed bonus content. It's an account-wide unlock and does not expire. But you do need a free character slot in order to build a new toon.

The AT is still not correctly implemented and while it is possible to make the Burst Shot/Blade Tempest choice you have to do it in the Powerhouse by removing the powers you were given when the character was created and then you get offered the choice when you put the powers back in again. Not intuitive and not signposted in any way, so certainly could be improved. I'll raise it on the bug thread.

Is there any way to purchase the Specialist if I'm currently subbed, so that I'll retain access to it if I unsubscribe, or do I just lose out?
Obviously not enough time for this one, but could you devs perhaps consider some type of system for these giveaways where maybe an NPC can hand out unlock tokens, like buying the Icicle/Night Avenger/Cursed ATs worked?

Any "purchases" you make will be yours to keep even if you downgrade to Silver. In the case of the Archtype, it "should" already be unlocked for you (since you are currently Gold) as it is under the On Sale category . If it doesn't show as Purchased for you when you do downgrade, please remember that the promotion was directed toward Silver players.

NO. Once you claim it, it is yours permanantly. However, if you delete that character at some point in the fuure, you may not be able to create another specialist for free, I'm not sure.
