Is it that blasted DDOS attacker again? What in the blazes is he getting out of this that makes it so enticing to cause problems?
Dasher@Tool-box, donning his armor to prance into battle and blitz the enemy! No joke!
Cupid@Tool-box, stunningly radiant stag ready to play matchmaker between villain and arrow!
Vixon@Tool-box, frighteningly eager to summon despair for his adversaries!
Jebin Zedalu@Tool-box, elementalist weaponmaster. ...One of these things is not like the others!

The twitter feed makes it seem like he is upset about NWO, yes.

Hilariously, threads about this in STO and NWO get LaughingTrendy attention and even get closed.

And then there is CO . . .

Everyone now automatically assumes DDOS attacks, and frankly I think Cryptic likes it that way...it helps camouflage their rampant lack of competence in monitoring and maintaining their own servers (or should I say, their rampant lack of f**ks to give). Half the staff has already been fired or left the company...at this point they really ought to just clean house and hire spastic lobotomized chimpanzees as replacements. It would be a lot cheaper and at least as talented.
There is evidence of an attacker, related to NWO.

There is very little any company can do about a ddos. More often then not they are usually attacking the ISP rather then the servers themselves by flooding their ports with packets.

Though all three games being down is a side effect of all three games being on the same servers.

well here's from an old article(2013) advertising a 'good ' hacking course.I'm not listing the site because it also has a list of common, easy to use ddos attack programs including sites ot download them.
Detection and Prevention of Denial of Service Attack

A DOS attack is very dangerous for an organization, so it is important to know and have a setup for preventing one. Defenses against DOS attacks involve detecting and then blocking fake traffic. A more complex attack is hard to block. But there are a few methods that we can use to block normal DOS attack. The easiest way is to use a firewall with allow and deny rules. In simple cases, attacks come from a small number of IP addresses, so you can detect those IP addresses and then add a block rule in the firewall.

But this method will fail in some cases. We know that a firewall comes at a very deep level inside the network hierarchy, so a large amount of traffic may affect the router before reaching the firewall.

Blackholing and sinkholing are newer approaches. Blackholing detects the fake attacking traffic and sends it to a black hole. Sinkholing routes all traffic to a valid IP address where traffic is analyzed. Here, it rejects back packets.

Clean pipes is another recent method of handling DOS attacks. In this method, all traffic is passed through a cleaning center, where, various methods are performed to filter back traffic. Tata Communications, Verisign, and AT&T are the main providers of this kind of protection.

As an Internet user, you should also take care of your system. Hackers can use your system as a part of their zombie network. So, always try to protect your system. Always keep your system up to date with the latest patches. Install a good antivirus solution. Always take care while installing software. Never download software from un-trusted or unknown sources. Many websites serve malicious software to install Trojans in the systems of innocent users.

Always the issue with DDoS attack counter measures is that you 1) Have to pay a lot 2) Paying all that money still won't not stop them, just deter them 3) Can reduce performance and increase latency for the rest of your customers.

Cryptic's network hardware is none too impressive under the best of conditions, which makes it pretty easy to push over the limit with a ddos. Spending more money on their network and security would help, but really, Cryptic is a fairly small company that specializes in low-budget MMOs.

High-budget triple-A MMOs with supposed better server hardware and network security don't seem to be any less vulnerable to DDoS attacks. Even Blizzard with their holy grail of MMOs had to quickly bring down the servers for maintenance during their recent DDoS attack. GW2 apparently has it happening every few months or so.

It takes a bigger attack. Of course, bigger sites do draw bigger attacks.
