Suggestion: Retcon if powers changed.

I'm thinking of a login check that checks if the character has the changed power / advantage.
If it does, unlearn everything for free so that the character can be rebuilt.
Not everybody has 600g or a free retcon for every single character.
Every game does this, can't see why CO shouldn't.

You'll most likely be called a mooch/whiner for trying to get this, or told how it doesn't affect one person's/group of his friend's toons(over exaggerated usually to encompass the entire gaming comunnity), therefore it shouldn't happen.

    But seriously:
I think they used to..I think.
Buffing everything to stupid high levels and nerfing everything to piss poor levels yields the same results, but not the same community reactions.

Heya Glor. Was there a particular change that happened to one of your builds that prompted this?

Hey! Other than the change to INT earlier, not yet! But if they change Hard Frost I'll need it for characters which use ice blast :)

Get on the PTS forum and suggest it there mate, while they're still looking at it.

The Hard Frost change is only going to change how you use Ice Blast. Instead of tap-spamming it, you'll want to either charge it or tap it and use other Cold damage powers. Hard Frost will still be a useful advantage, as the damage of hitting a HF-debuffed target with a R2 Ice Blast is comparable to hitting a non-debuffed target with a R3 Ice Blast.

As far as granting retcons go, in the past they've done one of two things. For large patches with massive changes to multiple powers, a free retcon was given to every character whether they were affected or not. For focused patches with massive changes to a narrow group of powers, they have previously given free retcons to characters with those powers. I'm not sure the changes to Ice is going to count as massive enough to warrant a free retcon.

Then there is the automated system that forces people with illegal builds to do a full free retcon (which doesn't use up a stored free retcon) when they go to retcon. An illegal build is one that has powers picked out of proper order, too many powers for their level, too many advantage points spent for their level, too many advantage points in a power or something similar*. Illegal builds rarely happen outside major changes to power progression or changes in Advantage cost. This is not a likely scenario on live at this point, but it has happened a few times in the past.

*You can force it on PTS by setting level to 40 (if you're not 35+ already), picking a second Travel Power and then setting level to 30 or less. If you go to the trainers and try to remove a power after doing that, you'll be asked to do a full free retcon.
