Nintendo did this thing first. Wake me up when the Smash Bros. movie comes out.

Stark talking about limits? Is this some kind of doppelganger replacement Tony?
    ...Since 2009.

IIRC that was a line by Stark from the Civil War comic series.

But you could rationalize it as Tony's reaction to that whole Ultron business; plus, y'know, his best friend going berserk and nearly leveling Johannesburg. Plus, Stark does want a unified world defense against alien invasion.

Tony does strike me as acting a little out of character in the trailer(as far as his film persona goes)

but maybe the movie itself will do a better job at explaining his position.

Looks great, can't wait to see it!

Using Bucky as the flash point for this conflict was brilliant IMO, particularly since this looks like a proper Captain America sequel, with the focus on him. The government trying to assassinate his best friend for something (the trailer suggests) he didn't do, is one of the few things that could believably make Cap go rogue. And it makes for a very personal story for him.

Considering that Ultron was Tony's fault and after the kind of collateral damage involved in Avengers 2 as the result of Ultron, I'm assuming that the incident might have humbled Tony to some degree. Probably he might have realized that there needed to be contingency safeguards for the kind of power the Avengers have to prevent further disasters. The film's synopsis does say that something tragic happens as a result of the Avengers' activities and that should solidify Tony's position even more.

Similar to comic Iron Man during the civil war storyline but nothing to do with secret identities.
