Howdy

I am working on a build, hybrid melee/ranged, maybe some tanking. My build is almost done, but I want the one that can survive the best against foes like Frosticus and Onslaught villains.

Currently, I am looking at
Option #1: 15,900 health, 123% damage resistance
Option #2 18,400 health, 85% damage resistance

Which of these ends up being tougher (assuming the same set of powers)?

Thanks!

    Option 1: effective hit points = 15,900 x (1 + 1.23) = 35,457
    Option 2: effective hit points = 18,400 x (1 + 0.85) = 34,040

Option 1 is also superior for healing.

Ah--that is roughly what I was looking for.

By the way, the difference was in making PSS Str (Option 1) vs. PSS Con (Option 2).

What is your damage resistance coming from? 85% is really low for a defensive passive, is that just your Defense? If so, you'd pull slightly ahead (on the Con build) with another 60% or so from a defensive passive.

This toon is using AoPM, so no defensive passive. All gear/specs.

If I went for defensive passive, Con would drop 79 points, and I would then have to figure out another method of energy management. Either of my current build choices does not even need an energy unlock.

One thing i keep wondering is how so many get their health so high?
I have Con SS and in mostly Legionnaire / silver champion gear and I've only got 8k health. This is literally double me.

How are your hp so low? 8k health is only 200 con.

    My Con build uses

    Base Con 5 (like everyone)
    Con PSS (+80)
    All Con talents/innate stat (+45)
    All Vigilante Gear (+132)
    Full Justice Gear set (+25)
Six Con mods (mixed 7s and 8s for +376)
    Two Growth Amulets (R8, +50)
    Aura of Primal Majesty (+79)

    That totals up to 792.

Your math is a bit off...

    15,900 x (1 + 0.55) = 24,645 (123% Resistance is a 55.2% reduction)

    18,400 x (1 + 0.46) = 26,864 (85% Resistance is a 45.9% reduction)

The difference in effective HP and actual damage reduction between the 2 is still pretty minor though TBH...

Sorry, your math is the one that's off. If you are looking at resistance as reduction to damage, you have to divide by (1 - resistance) -- i.e. the 55.157% resistance from 123% works out as 15,900 / (1 - 0.55157) = 34,547.
